I have a 96 1.8 Laguna RT. I've had too many problems to list, my current one seems to be electrical. My temp guage increases with engine speed. Its had a flush and new water pump and rad before plus I've most of the earth points have been checked. Any help would be good. r19 with single point injection failed mot on high idle speed and high lamda reading.I replaced the coolant temp sensor in case this was giving a wrong reading and richening the mixture but this has nothelped .anyone any ideas? thanks in advance J

Sounds very much like the inner wishbone mounting bushes. Just because parts are quite new doesn't mean they can be taken for granted.
Having said that a similar problem on my Escort turned out to be a loose engine/gearbox mounting. The movement of the engine was throwing the car off line. Since it's a recently installed engine that's a good place...

I've seen this question elsewhere here. Apparently the gauges are unlikely to be used in a garage anyway and you just need to be able to twist the belt 90 degrees in the middle of its longest run.

Have you tried taking the heater pipes off and running a garden hose through the matrix both ways? Of course, that could possibly expose a leak but it's a risk you'd have to take.
It's also possible that either the temp control valve or its linkage is faulty. Or that the system hasn't been bled propely, the heater control should be on hot when...

It's got all the markings of the thermostat being stuck open.I know it's a big job but what you can do is take the thermostat out and check to see if is stuck open, if it isn't you could put it in a glass of hot water to check it operates correctly because it could be getting stuck and when you took it out you may have freed it.

Almost certainly a loose belt. It's usually shared with the alternator belt, I've never seen under a Scenic's bonnet so I can't be specific.

slacken the adjuster off through one of the wheel stud holes and you have to slacken the hub nut .sometims they come off easily or you may need a 2 legged puller.thats if its the same as my 19 J

Once you've broken down are the plugs sparking when you turn it over trying to start it? If they are it's probably fuel related.
If not, it's likely to be an electrical problem. My money is on either an igntiion compoment failing as it gets warm, or the fuel pump relay not working properly.

Probably not, in my experience leaky racks don't stay fixed for long- if you can stop the leak at all.
I'd say a replacement rack is what you are after.

If the temperature gauge (has it got one?) still works, then the clever money is on the sender unit in the petrol tank.

if you have a 12v supply at the bulbs, and the bulbs are known to work, then you have a faulty earth or the bulb holder is corroded, check the bulb holders first, then supply a temp 12v supply (connect a piece of wire from the battery and connect it to the positive side of the bulb)and see if this works the bulbs, if not, it sounds like a bad...

i had a similar prob, but mine only worked on number 4 in both directions. turned out 2 b the resistor. cost £70, and a bugger 2 fit, but did the job.

I would be surprised if removing a fuse would kill the warning light. Maybe just as quick to fix the fault. Presumably your car has front seat belt pre-tensioners. If so, the most likely fault would be the connectors usually found under the front seats. (Orange on Citroens) The explosive gadgets are all part of the air bag self check system....

Ask your nearest Ren dealer if they ever use one! Due to the pressure to finish jobs quickly that most dealer based mechanics are under, I suspect the real tool gets used less often than it should - if ever.
The belt should twist 90 degrees under firm finger pressure on the longest run. If it whooshes it's too tight.

I don't mean to teach you to suck eggs but you have checked the clutch cable for being stiff.If it is then you will have to take it out of the car and hang it up to oil it.

does anyone know how to get the bonnet of a clio open when the lever under the steering wheel is as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Hi, dont know much about laguna's, but if you have fuel and a spark, then i would check the timing, the belt may have jumped a few teeth the last time you drove the car

Sounds like a coolant circulations problem. Best bet would be to flush the system through with a good rad flush such as forte cooling system flush which you should be able to get from a good garage. And after you have done this give the system a good flush using a hose pipe by taking the bottom and top hose off first. Including the radiator and...

Renault plips can only be done with dealer equipment and a 4 digit code obtained from ren UK. I have never heard of anyone else being able to do it.
£35 is a bit steep as it only takes 10 Mins at the most

Update: it turned out to be my starter motor - I looked it up on GFS parts and it is around £60 so the £102 I've been quoted to replace it (labour and parts, excl. VAT) sounds OK (main dealer) I think (??).
A spare key will be £78 so I am thinking about that one...
Hopefully I won't be back on here for a while!

It could be a broken linkage or could just need the linkage adjusting.

check wireing that connects to the fan motor because if one or more burnt out at the connection this will happen. i had same problem and disconnected the original connector and replaced with spade connectors and placed them into there original position and heater now lights up and works properly

An update, I have just removed the lower securing nut from the wastegate control arm, and the wastegate itself is moving freely. Do I have an airleak in the control unit or pipes?

The fuel computer on my diesel Laguna II shows distance info etc but will not show any fuel related info . It just shows flashing dashes. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find a solution? Where is the sensor. Could this have become detahed or damaged?
