Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

To diagnose a faulty ABS Sensor you ideally need to have access to a diagnosis tool such as a Lexia to tell you which sensor is at fault. Failing this, most of the time it is also possible to use these pinout diagrams and measure the resistance of each sensor -

As I don't have a ramp I put my thinking head on when is came to measuring the front, the rear is not such a problem.
Put the car on my ramps, cleaned the measuring areas and double sided a 30mm x 40mm x 5mm plywood to both area. (Thicker Ply may be be better, 10mm?).

I would asume this is the case of many models from the PSA group.
My Berlingo and many others i have looked at has no sound from the tweeter speeaker in the door.

I pulled of the cover and yes the tweeter is installed, but the plug is not connected. I think this is done by purpose to earn a little more money if you buy the car with upgraded...

I hadn't used my '99 Pug 806 for ages & when I went to use it found the head lining had come unstuck & was sagging around my ears.
A professional recover would have cost more than the car's value so as the glue was still tacky I had a go at re-fixing the lining.
My first attempt with a hair drier was nearly OK but didn't seem to have stuck it back...

I would NEVER recommend any water spray or jet / pressure washing inside the engine bay - ever. There are too many electronic modules and open connectors poorly protected where the wires enter the connectors. Rust is another issue, so if you want to avoid years of electrical problems, leave well alone and just use a cloth and a little engine...

Kinda related. It was the radiator in my old 1.6 visa gti that caused the head gasket to go. I took it out and flushed it both ways and it water passed through fine. Only later on did I find out that only the top third of it was hot, bottom 2 thirds stone cold. So it was clearly totally blocked inside and had 1/3 of its cooling capability. Worth...

I was told ideally, tire pressure should be measured when tires are cold—that is when I have driven less than a mile. Decided to repair some scratches on the front wing but during sanding I found more layers of paint. Looks like the previous owner had done some paintwork which he didn't tell me about.
I started sanding with 400 and finished with 800 grit.
I was planning to just spray the base coat and a few coats of lacquer but not sure how this would work with...

We all know there is heat shrink tubing,but,,Was looking for TAPE with the same properties.
Found it in Screwfix,,,it doesn t need heat but STRETCHING to about twice its length..
Works a treat, The times I forgot to run tubing over the wire before soldering then cutting and soldering again,drove me mad,Trying to get it done quickly..

a wee tip to share when you've spent a few hours in the engine bay & your hands are black...

...I used to use straight washing up liquid, but have now found that its much easier to squeeze a bit of Diesel into your hands from a small bottle, rub hands together, then apply washing up liquid as normal.

Over the last couple of weeks I've had a great opportunity to measure the changes in fuel consumption after using Redex Advanced for diesel engines.

After a trip to Wales, I did over 500 miles of mixed driving in my Megane 1.5 dci tourer/estate and still had about 12 litres left from a full tank. I was quite chuffed with the performance.

transmission and clutch

Hi guys.

I'm about to change the flywheel (and clutch ecc.) on my C4 grand Picasso from 2010 with egs. (half automatic transmission)
My diagnostic tool can't handle that operation and need to find one that does. What tool and software should i use for this operation? :)

The clone I bought was from a seller called syllablegrow , arrived quickly and works fine so far, if you are going to gamble on a Chinese one. Alternatively where are you located? Got a used car? Then don't buy micellar wipes (2 packs for £1 from poundland) and use them on your steering wheel (or any other oft-used car controls) if you've a delicate constitution. :shock:

I want to install a good racking system into my Citroen Jumpy. I considered making it by myself, but the van is quite new and I am not really talented in working with wood and don’t want my van to look messy.

I have had a gaiter develop a very small split (less than 1cm in length), through which some grease has escaped. Although I do intend to replace the gaiter, I still need to use Gracie until such time permits. I did not want to widen the split any further, but I needed to get some grease back in there (before sealing said split). I then remembered...

One thing I have found is that bicycle patches are not compatible with LHM and soon melt into a sticky mess!

I know these are a damn nuisance if you want to dismantle the joint so it can be washed out and re-greased properly, so here's the easy way to do it.
You need:
A short piece of metal bar if the same diameter as the projecting part of the joint. I used a 1/4 socket.
An O-ring that will fit the above (or an elastic band).

Wheel nut cover remover

Ever since hard chrome plating was outlawed, most wheel nuts on alloys have little shiny plastic covers that you need to pull off to get a wheel brace on. That can be awkward if they are in deep holes on the wheel. I've struggled on one or two cars if they haven't been off for a while.

Just got a new (to me) C4 Pic and bought a spare wheel/jack...

Seriously though, even my '96 had these covers (although they are tin ) so don't think it has anything to do with Euro chrome regs. They come off easy enough using a wall drive socket...

Useful mention....

following an MOT failure on 'Rear Brake Imbalance' among other things, I decided I needed a new set of adjusters

So having worked out that my shoes are the LS1233 type (Lucas with Roll Pin as opposed to without )

I then realised I couldn't find any adjusters anywhere

So cross-referencing the list of other cars those shoes...

C5 Handbrake cable-top tip

As some of you may be aware, the Mk1 (at least) C5 handbrake cables are routed through metal guide tubes running from below the centre-console, alongside the exhaust, to the wheel arch.

It seems to be the case that, over time, most likely due to the heat from the exhaust, the cable sheath welds itself to the inner wall of the guide tube. As a...

I've never had too much trouble with CV Boots, unless you count doing daughter's 106D boot three times in quick succession coz the first two times I erroneously used a standard boot instead of a small one, which quickly chaffed and therefore wore out....

There are numerous components that are coded together. If I knew what they all are I would post them up, but I don't. However, somebody with the relevant knowledge should come along with the information you need.

At a minimum need BSi, chip from key and possibly any other ECU from the original DW8 donor car. No guarantee this will actually work either as you're using a completely different engine type.

Far far quicker / easier to de-armour pump and fit a conventional solenoid to it.

Caution: Inform insurance company of this.

I was up at the scrappy today (I have mentioned a C5 estate in the 'For Sale' section) and, amongst other things, I bought the drivers door switch module (as my C5 would not automatically raise the front passenger window; I would have to hold the switch). While the one I bought turned out to not be suitable, it did show me how the unit worked, so...

Well, decided to bite the bullet having got my new condensor and fitted it today. Bit fiddly, but yes, it can be done without bumper removal, grille removal or complete fan carrier removal. For me, it worked out like this.

Undo and remove the four push fit clips that secure the upper part of the front grille assembly to the rad carrier. Remove...

Regarding the cooling system on the 8v TU petrol units on these, if you can unhook the bottle and raise it slightly (some models have enough movement in the pipework to allow this), earlier ones usually as its not the solid plastic 'return' pipe, this can help as the extra 'gravity' from the bottle being higher helps....
