French Car Forum

The GT has a combination of both. 'Sporty' and a bit creaky :-D

And here's Part 2 of my photo album from this auspicious show :D

There's something for everybody in there ;)

Even model collectors

It was nice to see some unique cars and people today. Jim's back to full health, you can tell because he was like a child in a sweet shop, trying to slow him down long enough to say hello was hard work. And as for Gary's car, a proper wolf in sheep's clothing, 1.4 saxo lump with power steering hidden in an AX 1.1, basically a rocket fitted to a...

And here's my full photo album from the event:

That would be great 8-) 8-)

I'm still looking John :)

Meanwhile, here's a few pictures from the 2025 National Rally...

That is an amazing survival record Richard :D I'd love to try a drive in a 652! 'Hilariously under-powered...' Love that

So is it the case they are now really loved by those who love Visas? I can easily see that although I did see my true Visa love on Sunday :D

2025-09-02-0048.jpg

Having said that, I could easily love a 652,...

Ohh lovely  I do rather like a nice Matra :D

I live in hope, unfortunately I think the date is too close to Jim's impending operation so that is probably not an option!! :-D

It is although we can put that one on the pending list ;) It might be workable and it would be good :)

Consider it done! :-D

I may see you (and Bob !) there then Mick :)

Thanks for posting that - good to see opportunities for meets.

Dollywobbler (Hubnut)'s video with Jim making an appearance.

The Farina one with the tartan travel rug and stickers was taken especially for you Neil 😊

Thanks Jim makes it even more pleasing I picked that one out for special mention :-D

Neil

Really enjoyed both day, and yes, Jim & Alistair were both missing and missed.
Maurice

Gutted I missed you too Maurice

hope you’re still recovering OK.

Yes, thanks you :-D Touch-wood it's all going splendidly but very conscious not to push it too hard...

Onwards and upwards to the Chevrons rally :)

Yes....home of the original (in the 60's) Ton-up boys.

And a link to a very short vid

I should have in my CCC columnist capacity but nowadays an order of magnitude further than I can contemplate travelling now. Bluebell would do the trip easily but her driver would break down for sure...

Reports received suggest it's a good one. Shame the weather may dampen things today...

I do plan to be at the Abbot's Ripton CCC National in...

If I come in the HDi, I'll park in the next village and walk...

You've have to Roger, it's too new!

Be lovely to see you there in the S1 :-D

Be great to see you there however you make it Roger, :-D

It is just up for general info after Ryan's question last year.
Wetherby is probably the only one that I would attend now, not comfortable with longer distances any more. Wetherby is 80 miles from me.

CCC .
None posted up to now. I usually find that the first one is in early May in Wetherby.

When I'm looking at my latest Issue of the Citroenian, I'll be able to advise...

Agreed Jim about the best bit of the show. Will’s a very clever and entertaining guy. He was talking about doing the rear centre sphere but ran out of time, maybe next year. Years ago re-gassing was readily available but it’s not now.

Both my rear spheres were down to 15 bar, they should be at 30, so they’d lost 50%. They were dated 2015 but when...

Oh my fckiin god, I wouldn't of lasted after the Mustang, wheelchair please! Dodge, Capris, 206, VW bus, replica Cobras, what an amazing day out! Wish I was there

Nurse!!!!!

8-) :-D I must admit to my own lust for the muscle cars Ryan... I absolutely love them :-D

That Beemer was parked near Bluebell :D I had a long chat with its owner... Ever so friendly and not minding at all that a pile of Frenchness was parked nearby :)

I may well be at Little Horwood for the D gathering - if they will admit a lowly AX - and will be at the CCC National on the 15-16 July and the Little Horwood Chevrons rally on the 9-10 September... All in my diary...

Sadly, I see the Northern clashes with our local Stokes Golden Classics so that's me out of that one unfortunately 😕

The above titled event is held this year on the 16th and 17th of September over two sites (Newport quay saturday 16th and Ryde esplanade sunday 17th)
I sponsor part of this event and have attended for many years, it is a very good show with a very big flaw, NO CITROENS!!! there was a DS there once and the odd 2CV but i would like to bully the...

Thanks for sharing Jim

Oh, that reminds me I haven't ordered my FCF sticker yet.

I shall be at the CCC National in Abbot’s Ripton in C6 FED on Saturday 24th July.

Merde! Mes commiserations!

That's a no then lol

So I got myself well & truly confused as to dates/events (mainly 'cos I've not updated my calendar this year) but the July meet IS the D rally AND - it's 2 weeks before the French 100th!

Unfortunately not. First one I have had to miss for years.

There’s now a Facebook page for the event

Me too - although some of the blurb is as accurate as a Haynes manual.

Interesting though - & some wonderful period pictures - thanks for sharing.

From Nigel Wild on behalf of the Organising Committee:

Citroen Centenary - 1919 – 2019 - a thousand cars for a century of Citroen

31 May – 2 June 2019 - Coombe Park, Warwickshire

As we enter the Centenary year, here is the latest update about the major Citroen event in the UK!

The initial release in November included all the essential...

Thanks for that, it must be that May is too far ahead for Direct Ferries (had the same issue booking for Dover - Dunkerque/Calais in January, they could only quote for P&O and le Shuttle, whereas DFDS's own site has prices for the dates I wanted).

As I can only reckon on 40 mpg, + Harwich is a bit further for me, it's time, rather than cost,...

2 Days to go!

Reading is a densely populated place. The satellites will need to be small. :dunno:
Well, Reading is dense, there is no denying that! :D

Having now received the July edition (subscriber, so not sure if it's in shops yet), I can now confirm that my Activa does appear in a couple of photos.

Could be fun, it is perhaps too long since I spent any length of time en France.

However, much would depend on my son, the navigator & I think, even after a couple of 1,000 miles around India in an old Hindustan Ambassador taxi in 2014 & (ostensibly) the Ho Chi Min trial in ex-USAF (i.e. abandoned) MUTT, he might blanche at going round France in...

To bad I was in New Orleans that weekend, even if on the Friday I did experience the worst rain (& traffic) I've ever known.

My going was all part of some great plan (the details of which allude me already) which the weather brought to nought - AND, it was a lot of travelling on the off-chance it would be a nice day.

I'm not usually in the country at Easter, but if I am again next year - & with a bit more notice - I might well give it a go.

Henley to Quainton aka the Ridgeway Run is Sun 17 June this year Jim :)

Excellent :) I appear to have no events booked for that day so should be good to go...
