Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

It's got all the markings of the thermostat being stuck open.I know it's a big job but what you can do is take the thermostat out and check to see if is stuck open, if it isn't you could put it in a glass of hot water to check it operates correctly because it could be getting stuck and when you took it out you may have freed it.

Almost certainly a loose belt. It's usually shared with the alternator belt, I've never seen under a Scenic's bonnet so I can't be specific.

My Scenic has started making a nasty squeak on low speed turns, 3 point turns are a speciality.
I've been told this could be due to a slipping power steering belt, sounds feasible to me but could it be anything else, worn bearings etc.

slacken the adjuster off through one of the wheel stud holes and you have to slacken the hub nut .sometims they come off easily or you may need a 2 legged puller.thats if its the same as my 19 J

I have a set of new roof bars for my new Laguna II estate. I discovered my old ones fitted and therefore did not need the new. They cost £70 but will sell for £40. Can't garrantee they will fit, but can supply dimensions if interested. (I live near Watford)

This car has 1390cc S/P engine it uses RENIX managment system
cold tickover 1500rpm --- hot 900rpm or very near, cannot be adjusted computer controlled..you havent given enough info ,you may have disturbed something on throttle body , , vacuum pipes or plugs,check here first

Once you've broken down are the plugs sparking when you turn it over trying to start it? If they are it's probably fuel related.
If not, it's likely to be an electrical problem. My money is on either an igntiion compoment failing as it gets warm, or the fuel pump relay not working properly.

Probably not, in my experience leaky racks don't stay fixed for long- if you can stop the leak at all.
I'd say a replacement rack is what you are after.

I own a espace 1994 2.9 v6 and I had the same problem on the locking mechinism there is a plastic link that moves depending on the unlock or lock position it rides on a small shaft held with a circlip this gets gummed up and can lock the boot no matter wether it is unlocked or locked take it off and give it a good clean and put a little copper...

if you have a 12v supply at the bulbs, and the bulbs are known to work, then you have a faulty earth or the bulb holder is corroded, check the bulb holders first, then supply a temp 12v supply (connect a piece of wire from the battery and connect it to the positive side of the bulb)and see if this works the bulbs, if not, it sounds like a bad...

i had a similar prob, but mine only worked on number 4 in both directions. turned out 2 b the resistor. cost £70, and a bugger 2 fit, but did the job.

I would be surprised if removing a fuse would kill the warning light. Maybe just as quick to fix the fault. Presumably your car has front seat belt pre-tensioners. If so, the most likely fault would be the connectors usually found under the front seats. (Orange on Citroens) The explosive gadgets are all part of the air bag self check system....

Ask your nearest Ren dealer if they ever use one! Due to the pressure to finish jobs quickly that most dealer based mechanics are under, I suspect the real tool gets used less often than it should - if ever.
The belt should twist 90 degrees under firm finger pressure on the longest run. If it whooshes it's too tight.

I don't mean to teach you to suck eggs but you have checked the clutch cable for being stiff.If it is then you will have to take it out of the car and hang it up to oil it.

Hi, dont know much about laguna's, but if you have fuel and a spark, then i would check the timing, the belt may have jumped a few teeth the last time you drove the car

Sounds like a coolant circulations problem. Best bet would be to flush the system through with a good rad flush such as forte cooling system flush which you should be able to get from a good garage. And after you have done this give the system a good flush using a hose pipe by taking the bottom and top hose off first. Including the radiator and...

Have a Renault Laguna with a problem. The 30AMP fuse situated by the passenger side front wing in a plastic housing (the fuse is the one right slap bang in the centre) keeps blowing. The last one was ok for around 500 miles but today, it blew again (2nd time) and when fitting a replacement, it blew immediately.

I have 21 Sav 1.9diesel and it vibrates. Its like the engine is mounted directly to the chassis without rubber. Its worst at 2500 rpm in any gear and is worse under load. Renault plips can only be done with dealer equipment and a 4 digit code obtained from ren UK. I have never heard of anyone else being able to do it.
£35 is a bit steep as it only takes 10 Mins at the most

Update: it turned out to be my starter motor - I looked it up on GFS parts and it is around £60 so the £102 I've been quoted to replace it (labour and parts, excl. VAT) sounds OK (main dealer) I think (??).
A spare key will be £78 so I am thinking about that one...

It could be a broken linkage or could just need the linkage adjusting.
Or it could need a new gearbox.

i have a renault 21 savanna i cannot use my first or second gear although my gear stick will go into 1st or second gear positions there is no drive but 3rd , 4th 5th and reverse all work properly also when you try to change from any gear to first there is a mechanical stop that will not allow you to change into first until you are at a slow speed...

Have replaced cylinder head gasket on my 94 2.2 Rn at 120k Dec 2004
Took 30 hrs & £150 in parts
Still running perfekt!

haynes do not do a manual.

check wireing that connects to the fan motor because if one or more burnt out at the connection this will happen. i had same problem and disconnected the original connector and replaced with spade connectors and placed them into there original position and heater now lights up and works properly

car heater not blowing/heater dials not illuminated have checked the fuses in fusebox under steering wheel-these are all working. Are there any somewhere else to check out?

An update, I have just removed the lower securing nut from the wastegate control arm, and the wastegate itself is moving freely. Do I have an airleak in the control unit or pipes?

My Laguna DTi has never been a ball of fire but expected this from such a heavy car with only 100bhp. My son however, has just got a Peugeot 306 DTurbo and the pickup is superb!! Also, my Laguna has just failed the MOT on emissions, with black smoke pouring out on blipping the throttle. I have just changed the fuel filter and found the wastegate...

The fuel computer on my diesel Laguna II shows distance info etc but will not show any fuel related info . It just shows flashing dashes. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find a solution? Where is the sensor. Could this have become detahed or damaged?

I have a M reg Laguna 2Ltr with 150,000,the things to look or hear for are noisy gearboxes,mine started to be noisy and it turned out to the main bearing and £500.Other than that you shouldn't have any real problems.

I am contemplating buying a 1995 laguna rxe with 130,000 miles on the clock.

Hi all,
3 or 4 weeks ago, just when the first heavy snow came the car hopped and spitted like it was in a too high gear a bit at the start, a warning lamp (orange like a jaggedy electrical line) came on and it was suddenly fine and soon enough the lamp went off, no problem.
A few days later it happens again but the problem (hopping and spitting)...

Easily done. Volvo turbo'd the 1721cc engine for some its 440, 460 and 480 models. A trip to the breakers should get you all the bits you need, or a complete engine to transplant.

check the earth points for the screen, i had the same prob with my clio. I just rerouted the earth to the wiper motor and it has been fine eversince.

The heated rear screen has suddenly stopped working in my L-reg Laguna hatch. The relay is OK and both side mirrors get warm when the button is pressed. I've metered the element and it reads (on my cheapo meter) zero ohms. If I disconnect the +ve connector and press the button I get a reading of 12V, but as soon as I re-connect it it reads 0V.

Appreciate your problem is now and old one with the Safrane Gear box but hust noticed it as I have now exactly the same problem, same symptoms. Did you manage to get to the bottom of your one. Any help would be appreciated.

FIRSTLY your heater matrix is choked , needs renewal , with hot engine hold the 2 heater hoses under water bottle ,these should be hot ,if heater still cold renew matrix,i assume engine is 1171 SP Etype ,would have to be more specific ,could be injector,vacuum leak faulty throttle body

We have an '86 Winnebago RV with a 2.2 gas Renault drive line. Apparently, there was transimission fluid put in the final drive unit hence it has seized up. We have been unable to free the CV axles from the trans. We are going to need the internal parts for the final drive unit and also any helpful hints on how to seperate the axles. ANY info...
