Warning! Megane convertible non UK models

A couple of weeks ago the wife told me that her new car was to be a Megane convertible. Nice car and I have always fancied one for my self. Any how, she found a really nice looking 2.0ltr 16valve model dynamique model. This was at a large well known Rover franchise in the Birmingham area. The car was spot on with all the bits and only a couple of owners with a full service history etc, etc. Saturday just gone the wife picked up the car all shinny and bright and we went to out nerarest Renault dealer for some floor mats. At the dealer we were told that the car my wife had just bought was "an import". Now the dealer hadn't mentioned this so Renault got on the computer system to see what the wife had paid for. It turns out that the Megane was first reg'd in Sept 2000 not July 2001 it was from Cyprus and had had a full frontal rebuild after an accident and had 5 previous owners. Long story short the car went back to the dealer were the wife had her old Focus back with a full refund on all monies paid. Our Renault dealer had saved the wife and I alot of trouble and explained that places like car super markets are currently flooding the markes with non UK models and you can tell them apart by 3 things. Non UK models will have after market fitted alarms (scorpion etc), no locking wheel nuts and best of all no vin numbers etched in to any of the windows.[:(][:(] Now to cheer the wife up on our way home from the dealer we popped in to Renault in Birmingham A massive dealer and guess what they had a convertible that the wife fell in love with[:D]. It's a 1.6ltr 16 valve Dynamique plus with leather. Now this car is as straight as a dye and a 100% UK car[:D]. So beware of non UK models being sold as UK. Sorry for the long topic but it made me so angry!!![:(!][:(!]
