I have a quandary. I've got to choose between my CX (a DTR T2) and my C6 (2.2 Exclusive). I don't drive that much and really what I need is a smaller car for round town (choosing that is a nightmare too), but I want to keep one of my two cars with proper suspension...

Autobox clutch slip (85 Prestige)

Well... First long distance trip to Cornwall and it was running perfectly until...

The clutch has started slipping quite badly. Engages all gears and 'creeps' as it should but it can't handle any steep inclines in 'A' and it will crawl very slowly in first as long as I don't floor the throttle.

I have just bought a 1976 2200 4 speed manual CX Pallas to do up and I know nothing about them. I just fell in love with them after seeing a youtube video. It's in really bad shape as far as neglect goes but should do up well. How do I get info on restoring them? Cheers peterbuck!

As you may have read previously, the trims on my Prestige were really crummy - all stained and pitted. They were original to the car but would have really let the car down.

Had a local engineering firm cut me some exact copies in stainless steel of exactly the right thickness and voila! Only £50 too. Considering the visibility of the trim on the...

I have a strange problem......
The CX ran fine (25 GTi auto) but I wanted to check the valve clearances. I removed the inlet manifold & whatever else was necessary to gain access, did the adjustments (not much) &
now I've put it back together it won't run properly.

It starts and revs up to about 2000rpm for a few seconds and then the revs slowly...

One thing I did notice though is where the 4 rubber hoses join the plenum to the inlet manifold, I could see some of the serrations on the black plastic part which I'm sure I couldn't see before I took it all apart.

CX25 GTi Auto - tappets query

Hello everyone.
I've just bought my first CX (that seems to imply there will be more?)
I have a query about the tappets & I wonder if anyone can help.

My engine sounds tappety and I'm about to check the clearances. Using a screwdriver as a stethoscope, the noise seems to be coming from just behind the camshaft pulley rather than the rocker cover...

Oh great................

In fact after adjusting the camshaft bearing & the tappets and replaced the 4 drivebelts, the car doesn't now run properly.
It has a misfire so I'll have to sort that - run out of time tonight.

dtr starting issues

few weeks ago Ella fired up as normal,the died as if out of fuel,had changed the fuel filter recently so assumed this was the problem,after bleeding the system she would eventually fire up then run as normal,but next day it would be the same proceedure all over again,as the fuel primer pump seemed a tad iffy(not always pumping) i changed this...

Hello all,

Subject title possibly a bit... over-dramatic. Sorry about that.

So as you can see from the picture, the trim has gone a bit 'funny' over the years. Having tried to T-cut, baking soda and various other substances to clean it up, the stains persist.

I thought they might be stainless steel but I've concluded they must be silver plastic...

I've just made up a couple of test ignition sensors that are now being put through their paces to see how they perform. If they prove successful, I will investigate the possibility of making a replica mould and turning them out on a low volume basis.

I would be interested,as would most 2500cc owners as all the remaining sensors are at least 20yrs old,and even if you are lucky enough to find new old stock who knows what life expectancy they have.

As this seems to be one of the only weak spots on these models this would make me less nervous when travelling abroad.

Engine oil leak but where from

Week ago I changed engine oil and stupidly I put to much in approx 6 half litre.

So oil was leaking out I guess from a breather pipe? problem is it hasn't stopped oil is now low :( and it still keeps coming out with the engine running.

It's not coming from drain plug or filter housing, and I can't see where :(

Saw in Classic Car Weekly this week that they've done a Buyers Guide for a CX. Reason for mentioning is that the write-up is quite ludicrous with the journalist obviously not knowing anything at all. One such comment was that the CX might need it's shock absorber replacing if the suspension was too bouncy or something along those lines... :roll:...

OK. So my CX broke down last year, around August time. It's a series 1 pallas 2.4 auto.

It is still broken. Since August it has been into a garage twice (Citroen specialist), had a mobile mechanic (Citroen experienced) work on it and been looked at by 3 AA men.

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, but I used to own E111 TRH, a white CX GTI T2. Does anybody know if it still exists?

I'll find out when I help my welder friend install the new sill on Friday! Registration is B425 FGP. Silver in colour with beige leather. Didn't notice it had air conditioning until recently, either. Standard fitment, I presume.

I had a little prang in mt GTi T2.
Can repair bonnet but really need a New 8-[ or rust free non-twisted if they exist.

Took corner of the bumper and broke winker, sidelight, no probs I have them.

Thats a very nice CX. I had a brief look at it at last year's Startford rally. As Franklin said, it was in storage for a while in the Taunton area and I believe it was advertised on ebay not that long ago as well.

On the dash, the '75 Mouse Mobile has a full compliment of lights along the top, but few have anything printed circuit connected to...

I`m in the middle of changing my CX to points distribributor but my cam doesn`t have a drive gear!
I did the mod to another CX a couple of years ago without any problem, so i`m guessing they ommited the drive gear on later engines (although the housing for the distributor is still there)!
So that means i`m in need of an early? Camshaft. Mines a...

Prestige offside rear window

So... After buying what was advertised on eBay as a Prestige rear window, I went all the way to Sussex and back from Birmingham only to find it's for a standard wheelbase CX. Grr

Anyone know if I can use a Safari rear window instead?

Recently I bought on the lovely (sometimes) eBay 4 Alfa Alloys ones on the 147 with nearly new Pirrelli P7 16-205-55 as I don't want to run down the TRX's on Tcuts. (I may add I don't particularly like)
Any how handling is much improved, far more positive & cornering on the verge of scary.
Nice thing to do as I'm now bored of the T2 :( ( done all...

Handyman: Yes they are 91v.
I measured the tread depth after purchase, 2: 7mm 2: 6mm my previous experience of P6 on my 22TRS many moons ago was they don't last very long, soft and compliant.
I'm limited 3000 miles on the Turbo so should keep me going for a year?

Most of you would have remembered a couple of months back about the white CX GTi Turbo 2 that was advertised as H10 ACX.

IF you didn't know, H10 ACX was the last ever CX GTi Turbo 2 and the second last saloon. There were two H reg Saloons and the last was a DTR Turbo 2 with the reg number H100 AJM. That car is still around and there is a picture...

water ingress into footwell

Hi folks

here's another perennial problem my cx suffers from and I need to sort soon. It's always raining in glasgow, sometimes I have to bail out the passenger side footwell, its rained in so much. I cant fathom it, it seems to run down near the corner where the bonnet release cable is. Any idea's? it's a proper pest!

just joined, hope I'm in the right place to post this. My cx is causing me much grief of late. The latest is that the ballast resistor has snapped, it starts if I bypass the resistor. I have a new ballast resistor coil to go on, but no resistor. My question is, can I get a new resistor, or can I use a non ballast resistor coil? Its...
