Well... Hello, I'm Kimmo and I am from Brisbane, Australia. I have got about four CXs here right now: Prestige '81, Pallas C-Matic '79, Familiale C-Matic '79 and Familiale '77 (?) wreck.
The Prestige is my main driver at the moment because our C5 HDi is in a bad state (suspension pump does not run). I bough the Prestige from eBay on July 2008 or was it 2009. The car was in Adelaide and I drove her back to Brisbane. Bit of a silly thing as the Prestige had been unregistered for 4 years and it is a 21 hour drive
Anyway, I got her home.I renovated the car with a new home-made paint job, fair bit of cutting the rust and welding. I also stripped the interior off and installed sound/heat insulation on the floor, ceiling and doors. I got the Prestige roadworthy in February 2011.
I have had the Pallas C-Matic since August 2006. I re-sprayed that one as well (my first re-spray job, not that good end result) and did heat/sound insulation as with the Prestige. I have driven the Pallas regularily (used to have that and GS 1015 as my transport) until July 2011 when I put her on a limited rego. Now she is driven maybe twice a month.
The Familiales are bit of a sad case. I really wanted a CX estate and ended up buying two wrecks from eBay. One was a '82 Safari 2500D that was accident damaged and I ended up giving that one away for a local "collector". The Familiale '77 is still behind the shed and I have used that mainly for a source of fuel injection parts to the Prestige.
The Familiale '79 was a running car when I bought it (it was almost free) from my friend who was moving and could not take all his cars with him. That car is a runner but has got some horrible rust issues. I have so far replaced the whole left side gutter and right rear quarter panel. Lots more work to do. I would like to eventually put the 2500D engine I got from the Safari in this Familiale. We'll see if that ever happens.
