I believe you may have better luck, if you trace down the exact ENGINE designation for your R25.
Both the CODE and the TYPE of the engine.

Renault has had joint ventures with both PSA (Citroen & Peugeot) and Volvo in their engine programmes.
Chances are then that your relatively rare R25 may have lots of sister models disguised under different...

Problem is the high friction with dry glass on rubber.

Using cotton sticks lightly oil the bottom of the guide channels and any free edges of the window glass (not the upper channel/edge though :wink: ). Then work the windows up & down a few times.

Note that the winder motors may stall completely due to built-in thermal overload fuses. They will...

thats a relief & it would make sense as it's around the rocker cover & water pump.
I think theres something missing from the injectors as that overflow pipe doesn't go anywhere & its been bodged at the end

To me it sounds much more like a cable or connector corrosion problem.
The electronics fitted to modern cars are incredibly reliable, but most garages and dealers would love to sell new units as they are - hmmpff - costly - to say the least.

I would have thought radios in modern cars were paired to the car using the chassis number via the BSI/canbus or whatever you want to call it?

Its common that car makers have to upgrade software to correct for any minor issues reported back from customers and dealers. Even safety issues could be involved in such software updates.

Of course all doors should lock by the central locking - either by remote or key - even in a Rain-old :wink:

To my best - this is not a specific, but very common, problem you are looking at : chafed or broken wires in the bellow leading to the drivers door.
Think about the abuse these wires have to take over the days and years ...

Hmmm you cvertainly got a point there.

But running flat by slowly loosing the voltage on the battery while ignition is on, is not exactly the same as removing the battery while ignition is off.

At least seen from the electronics point of view.
I.e. not a clean reset.

For us not in the know, I think we see an oil light, panic and fill it up!!
On another subject, petrol in my local town, Eastbourne actually went down to 112p from 113p at Asda. Big news!

In both cases there is a settings data memory keep alive feed that somehow has been lost. I dont know where to look for such a problem.
But check the fuses. Its likely to be a fuse when more electrical funtions have been lost.

Well I'm glad to say I found the resolution.

If anyone has a similar 'no start' after a cambelt or engine rebuild, this may prove of interest. This issue only applies to engines with the cam (cylinder) position sensor on the fuel pump rather than on the camshaft.

It turned out to be the TDC sensor and a cost of £25 so well worth checking out this forum.

V reg Megane 1.6 RT Sport for sale, needs valves replacing.

Interior in immaculate condition, body is in very good condition, but needs tidying up in 1 or 2 places. When it runs it is a really nice drive, Renault stereo is still in place.

That's not a very good design. My experience of alarm circuits is that they are normally closed and go into alarm when the circuit is opened. That way if there is a break in the wiring you get an indication of a fault.

Never mind though I'm not bothered about the brake pad wear indicators. You are right on the alarm circuit...

Yes I've been through the section of the manual that refers to the radio and I have pressed every button and combination of buttons imaginable!

Others have said that maybe it isn't an RDS radio but it certainly was when I first got the car three years ago.

It's a mystery!

If you can separate the trim at all CAREFUL use of a heat gun might help. A long blunt knife or spatula can be used to prise it apart.

How did you get the replacement window out? Was it removed for you?

had same problem with wifes dci 65 2002 i replaced the decoder ring behind the key and have had no problems since was told by mehcanhic it was key forked out on new key and same problem

this happend on my laguna .
i had a four digit number on a the owners hand book which you keyed in on the imobiloser buton down by the hand brake which flashes red. the idea is what ever the number you count the red flash to corrispond

You can bite your own nose its NOT the TDC you have found and disconnected. If so - the engine would be dead as a sweet-vinegar-marinated heering :lol:

But it could be the electric connection for the EGR solonoid valve you have disfunced, in which case the EGR valve never opens. This will dead sure make the engine run better instantly. And it...

Just bridge the switch connections. You will (must) have +12V and earth in to the switch - and the 2 motor terminals out from the switch.
The polarity to the motor terminals simply selects the window winding direction.
Dont panic on messing around with the wires, the circuit is protected by a fuse - howver be ready to locate and replace it with...

let us know how you get on with the car if you change the sensors over.
A friend of mine had the cold start problem on a 2000 megane 1.6 where it would start but as soon as the throttle was touched it died on him, that turned out to be the water temp sensor and after some thinking about i did have the problem of juddering on acceleration and also...

It turns out that this was an internal fault with the gearbox, and the mate who owns the car had to have the box apart!

The renault diesel engine is different from the PSA XU diesel engines.
But still - if it sports ye good ole Bosch diesel pump it will be happy on fish & chips or french fries :D

Also, presume it has a built in regulator in the alternator?

Oh yes :D Long gone are the days of external regulators, thank goodness!

Very involved but not that difficult if you are competent mechanically.
Just one thing, the Haynes manual description for a cam belt change for the F4R engine(Scenic& I thinkt he Clio sport is similar if not the same) is about 9? :shock: pages where as for our 1998 Xsara the description was less than one page :lol:

My first suggestion would be an engine flush and oil and filter change.
I assume the engine should be running a 10w-30 and someone has used something thicker. These engines run hydraulic tappets and these work best with a thinner oil.
Oh, is the noise louder at start up? If so, almost certainly oil incompatibility

Second thing I'd do if I were you, assuming you still want to do the job after reading the manual. Get a cam timing kit form Ebay or somewhere as they sell specific ones for different Renault models. This will have the locating pin and a cam set tool too that takes all the guess work out of it.

I note that the oil filter is probably one of the smallest I have ever seen on any engine before. I also note that it is exactly the same fitting as those fitted to the PSA diesels, which...

Otherwise you may run the engine in complete darkness (bonnet open :wink: ) and look for any small or vague bluish arcing on the ignition system components.

How about if I put my tongue on the leads with engine running ?
