Espace 2.2dci ...injector / starting problem?

Unread post by Rowland »

I have a 6 year old espace 2.2dci, 75K, owned from new, FSH - basically well treated.
That's the easy bit.
Last week at about 95 miles into my journey, and after a spell of quite hard driving, the car lost all power, EM warning light illuminated. Nothing to indicate the cause - however, checking underneath the car there 'appeared' to be some diesel dripping from/around the area of the fuel uplift pump. Perhaps a red herring.
Car would not restart so I reckoned it wasn't EGR valve or possibly turbo either.
Car was recovered to a renault (non-official!) mechanic who I do have confidence in. Diagnostics threw up an injector fault - leak-off test confirmed. Injector replaced and further test suggested they were now operating within acceptable tolerances.
The problem is this - he can't get the car to fire up. Squirting some eazi-start into the air intake does allow the car to fire and run, which suggests basics like timings are ok?
I've had a scan through various articles and wonder if e.g. the new injector requires programmed into the EMU?
I'm just guessing here, but would welcome any thoughts, ideas, diagnosis or just plain old feedback.
Thanks
