Hi Everyone.
I just got a renault megane with the cdi engine on an x reg.
The clock shows 92k, the timing belt was changed at 72k.
I spoke to the garage who carried it out and they said that only the belt was changed.
Seems odd that they didn't fit the full kit.
Is this usual and will the tensioners last or I am best off getting it done again?
Thanks
Shayne

Earlier engines had the tensioners and waterpump (cambelt driven) units replaced as timing kits every 2 or 3 cambelt replacement.
That was when belt change intervals were some 50K miles (80K km).
Service life problems with these components were rare, and still is. In view of the on-going development in components useful service life I would therefore not worry only replacing the cambelt at the mileage given.
UNLESS of course - stated in the service manual by the factory.
