This might be a really stupid question........but thats never stopped me before in my life. Has anyone ever put a Bx/Xantia T/diesel engine in a CX? Really don't know whether the engine in this 22 is worth bothering with as its looking like its gonna be a H/gasket, timing chain and water pump as well as the H/matrix. Some on here may remember my ups and downs with the afforementioned beast!
The hot cutting out issue was definitely fuel pump
I've also fallen foul of the turbo inlet pipe creeping off and causing extremely rough running, bad starting, e tc,
Also, I found some horrendous bodged wiring by the 2 fuel pump relays and have replaced the relays As well...

I'm having difficulty finding key blanks for my 1981 CX Athena. The ignition key is a 33 mm long straight spade shape. The door key is 18 mm long to the shoulder. Both are reversible, and the door key is the only one with significant cutting. I think I can find door keys online. But the ignition key, no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks all.

I think I may have asked before, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself, but does anyone have any views on wether the 2 or 3 types of plug that can be used have any real effect on running or performance?
As I've previously said, my car is now a joy to drive, loads of shove, smooth, no more cutting out but it just starts like it's had 50 Woodbines...

As per title, has anyone got one in known working order?

Couple of quick questions
Can anyone tell me Which of the 3 relays under headlight is for the cooling fan?
Is there supposed to be a (green) relay in the fuse box on the very left??

I've been making good progress with my acquisition, it's running much better after carb clean out and vacuum hose rearrange and sort. Accumulator sphere done too. The headlining is out, as are A&B pillar trims for a winter workshop re-trim
Two things are foxing me:
1, I can't seem to get cooling fan to work. It spins fine if you 'jack' 12 volts...

So, my 'project' 22 TRS is on the back burner for a bit after having sorted carb and accumulator
I'm still using my GTI Turbo as much as poss, I just love driving it!
I may have mentioned previously that its always felt a bit 'weak and woofly ' starting but as soon as you're moving it's epic, genuinely fast and smooth

My GTI Turbo has stopped charging it's battery. Any quick checks/advice? Or is it simply get a new alternator....?

AT LAST!
I changed the fuel pump and the filter today, in extremely hot and muggy conditions. The car ran for a good 20-25 minutes at idle with no hint of cutting out, in humid 30 degree ambient. The heat it chucks out, jeez!
Anyway, as I tried to move it off the drive, any load prompted a cut, but if you coaxed it with a bit of clutch it was ok,...

So, the answer is yes, you can run 220 tyres on the front of a CX, or at least they are fine on my GTI Turbo. It now sports 220s on the front and 200s on the rear, doesnt look too daft and drives fine
It cut out again the other day, in the really hot humid weather we've had, this time while driving at slow speed, after a lot of sitting and...

On my Turbo 1 the two fans on the radiator operate when required but only one fan goes into full action if needed. Anyone got any ideas? Does it make a difference which wire goes to which terminal on the radiator sensor? I'm sure it must but not sure which wire goes where. In normal driving on the motorway where does your temp. needle sit...mine...

Having had some luck with the headgasket (with a sealant) and changed the alternator recently, I ran into an issue on the way home.

Driving along a dual carriage way in 5th, the traffic came to a halt and I shifted down, but at that point the gear lever became loose and the further I can go to the left is now in the middle.

My GTI Turbo passed it's MOT today-(hooray!) and the drive there and back was fairly congested and lumpy and slow. Some may be familiar with my car's Hot idling/cutting out issues, I solved this on this trip by just turning it off if the traffic looked really bad!
Anyhoo, after a lengthy discussion with my ace auto electrician we're now suspecting...

Firstly thanks to C-GAT crankcase breather cleaned out, car still cuts out when hot, etc........ :rofl2:

A couple of questions,
Has anyone ever fitted an after market oil cooler to a GTI Turbo 1 , or seen/heard if it's possible?
Also, is it remotely possible to fit an intercooler to a T1?????? or far easier to fit all the T2 bits?

My diesel mechanics reconditioned the pump and injectors, but were not sure of the settings. It took them several goes to successfully time it, but this seems to be working well now. it has plenty of power but people travelling...

Part 1: Does anyone know where you might get a new set or a reproduction set of the interior window rubbers. Mine totally shagged.

Part 2 or Help 1 (however you want to call it). The fog lights that come fitted standard are in a bad position as you know and get broken....

I had sold these to a CCC member and just about to post them when I hear the poor chap passed away. So they're available again.

For sale- Champagne colour velour CX seats - don't think they're Pallas but standard saloon - likely early 80s. Good condition with plump cushioning. Little bit of grubbiness from a nearby 2CV exhaust pipe - cleaned them...

you might like to know that H10 ACX ,the wonderfully rebuilt-by-Fil turbo car, is again for sale in Swindon. I drove it yesterday.
Since Fil's fix, it's been improved further by complete Leather interior, stainless exhaust and repaint bumpers. MOT...

I've used Footman James in the distant past, for DSs, but has anyone any input on getting agreed value insurance for a CX Turbo?

Hi all, I am looking to replace the front struts on the CX with another pair.

I am looking to find the struts fitted to CX Turbos that have a slightly thicker cross section 37mm piston instead of the standard 35mm.

Anyone have a pair going with good unsplit rubber bellows?

I decided to sort out some rust underneath both rear lateral windows on my Prestige, sensibly removed one hard work, stupidly thought I could use angle grinder on other side without breaking glass as rust wasn't as bad :oops:
However done the job ground out all the rust job done window intact :) 10 minutes later BANG!! one broken window :rofl2:...

In the photographs of my recently acquired CX 'Familiale' I can only see seatbelts in the front. If the rear doesn't have them fitted are the anchorage points in the vehicle? Does anyone in the UK stock the plastic front window weather shields/guards that fit onto the top of the front doors? I've looked at CX-Basis where I purchased a set before but they don't appear to carry them now.

Hi all. The bonnet catch on my cx doesn't secure properly, so the bonnet keeps popping up an inch (the safety catch keeps it from opening immediately though). I've tried adjusting the positioning of the loop on the bonnet itself forward and back to see if it helps but it doesn't.
