Should we have a weekend gathering next year?
This thread is simply to gather opinions on the idea of having a weekend gathering somewhere in the middle of the area defined by the potential attendees. I'd suggest one or two nights in an economical but comfortable hotel eg travel lodge or premier inn allowing freedom to do whatever but meet each other for a drink in the evenings. Post your comments and ideas up here!

I'm sort of interested as I emerge back into the world but I'll just monitor for the moment.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

How's about trying to locate the meet somewhere near an industrial or motoring museum for added interest
Something like The Great British Car Journey* https://greatbritishcarjourney.com/ or one of the well known industrial museums ?
*- never been there, no idea what it's like !

I like that thought bobins. Once I get a fair idea of who is interested so I can judge the rough centre of their locations I'll have a look around the area for some visit options and go from there. If people could declare their interest or otherwise by the end of November I can start getting some venue suggestions for comment!

I'm down near Reading, as you probably know. I'm happy to travel, as can be seen by the silly distances I do for fish and chips in Saltburn..

I'd probably be game for something like this. Location wise being in Milton Keynes I'm pretty central so would be pretty flexible. Depending on where it was I'd make a call on what vehicle to bring, having the camper potentially gives me a bit of flexibility there too. So long as I'm not in a hurry!
Not sure if dates have been discussed yet, but I know I've got conventions running 3rd-6th Feb and 23rd-30th May so around those dates I'll be unavailable - especially in the run up to February as I'm running a panel there and will be running around like a headless chicken trying to get things ready I expect.

If there isn't enough you could always add some more...

If going to the trouble of specifically adding more, perhaps sparkling would be best as will help keep the pressure up

Re: Should we have a weekend gathering next year?
I heard tell of a teacher who had problems with the handling of his car. It took ages to find out what the cause of the problem was, and it only came to light when he had his tyres replaced. It appears that, a few terms earlier, some of his students had added full fat milk to each wheel, and (with the churning action and over time) the milk had turn to 'cheese' (well, sort of, but probably not edible).
I genuinely was NOT one of the students who came up with this idea; I couldn't think that far out of the box!
