Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Short version, 406 coupe, 2.0 EW10 petrol. 5 speed BE4 manual gearbox.

Currently 70 mph is 3,400rpm in 5th and although allows for acceleration without changing down, it's always struck me as the engine being so busy takes the edge off a nice GT type ambience the Coupe does so well.

That dent on the wing looks like an easy fix for a paintless dent remover. You could call it polishing on steroids.

I’d bet but they could Mr. B-R but it’s not really financially viable. IIRC from the other week’s clean up and detailing, the tiny holes in the paintwork on the bonnet extend onto the top of the wing.

I'm sorting through some stuff and have found some wheels that were on my Landy. They are 6.5 16 to suit the 750 tyres for trialling. I thought they were standard LWB rims but apparently not due to the 3 nipples on the outer face that would carry a hub cap. The 2 with tyres are slighlty different but have the same offset as far as I can see. I've...

I look after about 10 French cars for various friends and neighbours, then yesterday a mate bought a V50 Volvo and asked me to put a timing belt on it, I thought great, a new challenge and something different........

Reminiscent of the Mehari of ages past, but I don't like the upright windscreen. I can't see this being very aerodynamic and being vertical, is less likely to deflect any debris obstacles from the road, so possibly less safe...

In the news today an industry in the UK which has been struggling for decades British Steel, and non of the sell-off buyers and partners seems to be able to make a go of it either...

Just noticed my old XM (2.0 CT auto) M250 EAC has just been sold on Ebay.

I owned this car from Jan 97 to March 2013, it one of the first batch of the series 2 cars and was still a demo car when I bought it!

A blown fuse on the C5 prompted me to seek out a fuse kit - as I have plenty of full size blade fuses but none of the new smaller mini variety.

Off to eBay. Best price seemed to be a 344 item selection box, so add to basket and problem solved.

For those that don't know, 2G & 3G networks are being phased out in the UK by 2033. As there are limited frequencies that can be used, they are getting rid of the old to make more room for the 4G and 5G and beyond.

Some providers are not waiting to 2033 though:
Vodafone, are killing their 3G network by December 2023.
EE (and therefore Plusnet...

So Ford get a perfectly decent PSA 1.6hdi DV6 engine & chuck it in a C max.

Fair enough, but WHY remove the diesel bleeder bulb :evil:

And WHY mess up the Status Quo with Ford cruddy plastics and metal pipes that get in the way of EVERYTHING all the way to the intercooler? Even changing the oil filter is a drag....

Would a receptacle be useful for self-drive cars? Well here it is.

News story this morning on BBC with that famous old British Marque Jaguar. Will have to look up who own it now.

The first self-styled premium autonomous car has been unveiled in New York - and it's a Jaguar.

I was sent this about a new battery complex local to me.

The second 100 MW battery storage unit at Capenhurst sub station is now in service. Interesting Sky News Climate Show report and video on energy storage at link below.
The reporter is at the newer installation on farmland opposite Capenhurst Merseyrail Station which is some distance away...

I'd love to know more about the technical side of it. Is each 'container sized' battery unit a self contained static inverter (like a big UPS) so only those required at any one time can come on-line to satisfy demand whilst leaving all the others on standby? If this is the case are they then rotated...

Anyone going to Jersey this summer?

Only one of the 19 AA Boxes in the FCF AA Box Challenge remains unclaimed and its at Trinity on Jersey.

In the meantime the challenge has been made into a movie of the 18 boxes so far captured with an original photograph by an FCF member. So we have original pics from Red Dwarfers, Eifion, Richard W, White...

Just searched for how long do car tyres last and found this....🗑️
and according to the website Usually, tire tread life expectancy for passenger car tires is 50,000 to 80,000 miles
Surely no one gets 50,000+ out of a set of tyres, well I know I don't, 20-25,000 max!

The way I use my cars and the distance I travel, mine are replaced on a time basis or when the sidewall cracks become a concern...

I don't even think cracks are a concern for yours Jim, you tend to stay away from relativistic speeds...

The UAE Grand Prix was an absolute joke. How many dubious decisions were made by the stewards? They make one decision, and then, within a lap or so, reverse that decision. Mercedes will be spitting acid at them. It was the stewards who decided who would win the race, and not the drivers. Either ALL of the lapped cars should have been allowed to...

In October 2014, La Poste paid homage to Citroen by issuing a series of stamps. These were the models that made it and who would believe it the Xsara is in and the Xantia is out!

Using the desktop this morning, Microsoft Money, going to the Money home page brought up the BBC page on top of the Money page so a clash somewhere
Hit the restart button and it's come up with 'Configuring Windows do not switch off your computer' and there it's remained for over half an hour now with the progress wheel rolling. :(

Finally got around to giving the car a thorough wash yesterday, first time it's been warm enough, looked out this morning and it's covered in a film of fine gritty sand, going to have to get the hose out again. :x

I can never quite believe the volume of teeny tiny gravel chippings that seem to accumulate in the footwell! And always as many under the mats as on them!

My skoda yeti went in for an mot yesterday, not to my usual tester as he is unavailable for a few weeks. It failed on a broken front spring, which is ok. The spring is now replaced. What has pissed me off though, is the advisories that are noted, which makes it look like my 9 year old car, which is low mileage and immaculate look like an uncared...
