Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Just casting my my mind around the various films in which I've see French-built cars. Comes to mind:

2 CV in Pink Panther with old Peter Sellers

Then only vaguely are the cars in the Day of the Jackal, but there have to be some in Manon des Source, Les Regles du Jeu (sp?), but I don't recall any in The Duellists.

To send a Xantia radio, which is just a bit too large to be a Royal Mail 'small' parcel, the cheapest my local Post Office (very obliging) could do it for was £8 :shock: second class parcel post.

I don't know is the short answer, came from my Grandad's and he threw nowt away! He worked for the Gas Board so pretty confident the bits of pipe are his handiwork. Suspect the rest is an earlier iteration made by someone else (and the pipe was replacing say a rotten wooden handle)...

I am starting this thread for contributers to document details of jobs they carry out on their cars rather than the more general DIY with function over finesse thread which was intended to be non motoring projects. Thus hopefully it will serve as a resource and guide for members tackling jobs for the first time :-D

Got up this morning and thought 'Sun' and empty garage, SWMBO out on Mondays, time to make a better job of the emergency bumper repair that I did last year! So I removed the parking sensor and ran into the first issue. The connector plug fell apart in my hands so a bit of reworking required:

The FCF used to liken itself to the friendly atmosphere of a good pub, and there's none better than The Pickled Egg which appears once a month in a Magazine called Cheers which is distributed free in North-East Pubs. Its the work of Cluff (John Longstaff) and consistently makes me chuckle.

I decided to start a new thread for this post on the OTCL as I think it may get more contributions than a personal blog in the members area!!

I'm after suggestions for extended warranty providers for a 1 year old Citroën have just paid the deposit on.

I tried using the Citroën online quotes system but for some unknown reason the car is not recognised? I will follow this up by phone tomorrow!

The dealer I bought the car from wants to sell me a two year Spoticar warranty and I'm sure...

Yesterdays POTD on Geograph was The former Rootes Group Garage Mill Lane Maidstone Kent. Its listed so thankfully as far as I know hasn't been turned into flats. Watched a video about the nissan leaf battery pack being disassembled, and was surprised to see what was actually inside of the 48 sardine can modules, when the youtuber sliced one open with a can opener...literally :-D

I half expected to see a collection of little conventional looking batteries inside the tin but no.....this
