TV adverts!

Post by Gibbo2286 »

Remember they days when TV adverts were clever subtle witty and to the point?
It seems the advert makers have lost the plot, now fill the screens with junkies doing a frenzied version of Sydenham Chorea. :)

OK, so here's a challenge for the FCF faithful - what advertising slogans can you remember off the top of your head ? Don't wait to compile a complete list, just post as you remember.

I'll start the ball rolling....

Liquid Engineering
The mild cigar
Grace, space and pace
Plink plink fizz
Too orangey for crows
The car in front is a Toyota
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

Where do these advertising slogans and catchphrases come from ?

The mild cigar
Everything we do is driven by you
Tell 'em about the honey, mummy
Watch out there's a Humphrey about
The car in front is........
Splash it all over
Smooth on the outside, crunchy on the inside
They're tasty, tasty, very very tasty
The growing up spread you'll never grow out of
Bread with nowt taken out
Helps you work, rest and play
Tense, nervous headache ?

A nice waft through some gentle humour, and brutalist architecture as the tudor crisp paper lad returns all grown up!
Watch out fror gibbo's snowy appearing from stage left at the end of the first ad (27 seconds ish)
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 01 Jul 2020, 09:59 Try this not sure if the adverts were aired down South lovely stuff though and a link with the Trinity Square Get Carter Car park. The tower block known at the Dunston Rocket in the first clip was done by the same Architect firm Owen Luder.

Looking back.....both were interesting but much maligned buildings, and both have now been demolished.

'Takes Your Breath Away..' Peugeot 405. 'The Lion Goes From Strength To Strength'...

For me, one of the best adverts ever and one of the best cars I ever had too ;)

Berlin's soundtrack to the ad and the dramatic burning field made it all just awesome...

This from a person who hates ads with a passion and will do all I can to avoid them. So, for me, no commercial TV, radio or Internet websites that carry adverts.

Exactly the same here Jim and I am surprised I forgot that one.
Hardly ever see an advert, never watch commercial TV and have adblockers on all Intertube thingys.

With the notable exception of one a few days ago for 'oily glue' that looked interesting and may be of interest to you. Will expand on that when it arrives. The only advert that I have responded to in decades.
