C4X Wi-Fi not working

Hello guys,

I own a C4X 1.2 130HP 2022. My problem is car Wi-Fi is not working and I can not check updates or use connected services. My dealer says they have no idea about the issue but I believe that it is not a hardware issue but software.

Is it somehow possible to activate Wi-Fi connection?

There is a Wi-Fi section in the settings but when I try to activate it it is not responding and can not activate Wi-Fi

You'll need to provide your VIN so I can see what your car has, but from the picture above, it does not look like you have switched it on - the bottom shows a slide and that needs to be switched on for WiFi

Hello Marc,

When I touch the switch-on slide goes to middle and there is an animation starts on the upper right but 1 minute later it goes off again and nothing happens. Wi-Fi is never on.

Here is my VIN: VR7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Ok, so your vehicle is not fitted with on-board WiFi, which is why you can't activate it.

In this case, you will have to tether you smart phone that has WiFi to the car. Once you have shared WiFi access from your phone to the vehicle, the car can then use your Smartphone's data connection for certain features.

On a separate matter, your vehicle also has an outstanding After-sales campaign for:
MG8 - C4X - Rear Bumper Deflector

Check the support of the rear bumper and rectify it and add the rear bumper deflector if necessary.

Hello Marc,

Thank you so much for your answer. and the information about after-sales campaign, I will call my dealer.

What I was trying to do was using my phones mobile data so that my car can connect to my phone and so I can use my cars connected features. However this is not possible since I can not activate Wi-Fi and also there is no option for mobile data sharing in my connection settings. Only Bluetooth and Carplay can be chosen.

Another question is how you can reach this many information from my VIN, can I also reach this informations in order not not bother you?

You'll need to read through your vehicle manual as there are specific things you need to do about connecting your smartphone first of all before you can access these features.

It is all explained in the owner's manual:

Select your language first, then the vehicle, and then the age range of your vehicle, then you will be able to get the full manual and download a copy.

Hi , My first time here , and noticed the issue about the wifi not working.
I have a new Citroen EC4 and today whilst driving, listening to Spotify. Then suddenly:-

The system changed from English to French
The navigation turned on
Then there was then an information type update about online games & videos
The system seemed to cancel my profile, and ask me to set up a guest profile.

Then the Assisted Driving Function Went Off then on, causing the steering to be really light, followed by the air con turning on to a really high setting.

There were no warnings, updates ect, but when I pulled over and stopped I deleted the app on my phone, left everything turned everything off in the car for 20 minutes,

The phone connected to Spotify played through the speaker system, but didn’t show connectivity,

After about 10 minutes CarPlay came up , and it started playing ok, but the dash layout had changed, and the mirror screen seemed to show ok .

After all that, I have no Idea if it’s issue I somehow corrected by luck , or it was a technical issue with the car, app, or wifi ,

I am concerned it could be dangerous because of the way it affected the way the car was suddenly stranger to drive, with less control.

Does anyone have any idea why this occurred ?

Only that there are known issues with this IVI infotainment system that has led to the Head Unit and vehicle controls being unavailable - whether this is caused by an OTA update that has gone wrong or lost connection before completion and factory reset itself I can't say, but definitely something you should advise your dealer of - do you still have warranty?

You can try holding down the phone button for about 10 seconds which should reset the system.

I believe it's a system riddles with bugs and an Android based operating system.....

Thank you for getting back I got the car last December. . In January I had an ‘urgent recall letter ‘ which stated that there would need to be an update, but it would be done over the air. They would send the file, I would accept it, job done.
I kept watching for the file but didn’t see anything. I had booked the car into the garage last week, to check, but the service manager said it wasn’t something they would/could do, so everything must simply have been updated at some point !
Then yesterday , all that happened. It was scary in the sense that all that inside action was going on, but the “ losing control” or the driving was scary. It was as someone had taken control of the car remotely. I am waiting to call the garage at 10:00 so will message with an update. It seems like a few f people are having issues.sincere thanks for messaging back. Oz

No worries - it may be that the update was attempting to install whilst you were out and may have caused the issues. Some people always moaned years ago about the hassle of having to manually update the firmware and maps on their units - I hope they are reading threads like this today.....

Cursed things - it's like Windows Updates - plague of the Devil and always break more things than they fix these days. I disable auto updates and periodically check and selectively install only what I deem top be essential way after everyone else has installed them in case of impending doom! :rolleyes:
