puddles and bubbling around injectors
Hi, I have a Xsara Picasso 2009 diesel with the 1.6hdi 9hx engine. There is a small amount of bright yellow liquid bubbling away around the one of the injectors from when I start the engine from cold, and increases as the engine warms up. Also as the engine warms up, the far left injector area starts to make a chuffing sound. What is going on? Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks :?-?)

Also there is a smell of diesel exhaust fumes inside the car when you put the fan on.

Likely the injector to cylinder head seals are leaking. I would not leave it long before fixing since you can end up with a lot of carbon around the injectors making them difficult to remove.

Pull injectors out, clean the seats thoroughly , might need a injector reamer to remove carbon, fit new copper seals and torque to the spec. I had a mates 2 litre hdi recenttly that had 2 injectors leaking for a few months and it took me a day with a hammer and chisel to get all the carbon off th head.

ok, thank you. I guessed it might be injector seals leaking. Just wasn't confident in my diagnosis.Thank you again.

I am going to replace the seals. What tools and materials should I use to clean up around the injectors before I start?

Depends how bad it is, I would use a small brass wire brush about the size of a toothbrush and brake cleaner as a solvent
