Ok, problem solved. You vehicle is in fact a mid 2010 model - Your Build Date (RPO): 12295 (8 July 2010). After checking, your car has the older lights, so you have the HP24W DRLs.

As you are in Oz, I suspect this was a late registered model.

The headlamp units changed over to the new design with LED DRLS on the following build dates:

RPO 12412 (2 November 2010) for Halogen Headlamp units.
RPO 12565 (4 April 2011) for Discharge Headlamp units.

As you have the Halogen headlamps, your build date was before the changeover.

See my post here on how I upgraded and changed mine to LED replacements (wasn't happy with the first bubs, but later changed them to a brighter one).

Stickyfinger has put some pics up for X7 bumper removal. You may be lucky, but if the bulbs are too tight (screw seal) then it will make it hard to turn them without removing the bumper. I have discharge headlamps, so there was even less room to work, so had to get the dealer to partially remove the bumper and remove the bulbs for me. I then managed to make the mods as per my post and refit them myself.

I know this is an old post and sorry to resurrect, but I have just tried to change my DRL, used the T45 and some blue tac, but when I turned the ratchet to loosen, yes, the holder snapped with no movement whatsoever .. so my question is: are these righty tighty, lefty loosy or opposite? OR was I just unlucky :)
