Is there an overlap between RNEG2 and SMEG+ ?

I don't understand the question.

RNEG2 and all SMEG variants can use the common map and speed camera updates.
However they have different architectures and use different firmwares.

How long have you had the vehicle? Could the firmware have been updated during your ownership?

I'm trying to avoid going straight to 2.86 with its own possible problems.

I've given this some thought and my suggestion is to start with trying to install 2.71. Then after that I can supply 2.77, 2.80, 2.85 and finally 2.86. I have all those as an ISO to burn a CD. I also have 2.86 to put on a USB stick. I strongly suggest you try each in progression and don't jump immediately to 2.86! Even assuming that you can install the firmware be aware that you will probably lose the configuration that it came out of the factory with.

There are two ways to rectify this. The first is to pay a dealer to download the configuration file from the servers in France. The second is to use a program called Mirascript to change parameters. You may have already read about it in various posts. Unfortunately I cannot help with Mirascript except for a few items.

Use of all of these is at your own risk, etc.

Check your PM in a few minutes for links.

@kavanass

Check your PM.

Can't guarantee that it's the B variant though.

Hello,
I have a Citroën C4 Grand Picasso (2013, first-generation MK1, 1.6 e-HDi 82kW) equipped with the Magneti Marelli RT6 (eMyWay) system.
My problem: The screen is completely black.
There is no sound.
The CD drive makes a mechanical cycling noise (tries to load/eject) every 10–20 seconds (classic bootloop).

The internal MicroSD card has failed. I managed to clone the remaining files to a new 8GB Class 10 card, but the bootloop persists. I have access to firmware version 2.86, but as I understand, I cannot flash it directly onto a blank/corrupted card because the flash memory expects the original partition structure of the older firmware.
My car originally ran on firmware 2.21. I need to prepare a fresh MicroSD card from scratch. Could anyone share a full CD/USB image of RT6 version 2.21, or guide me to a working link where I can download it?
Also, a quick question regarding the VIN code: if I manage to perform a clean install with the 2.21 firmware, will the system automatically read my car's VIN from the BSI, or will I need to manually enter/telecode the VIN using MiraScripts or Diagbox to stop the anti-theft beeping?
Many thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,

I have a 2013 Peugeot 508 SW with an RT6 system currently running RNEG2.75.C.5

The original internal microSD card developed bad sectors. I cloned it to a new microSD card, and the RT6 now boots. Radio, Bluetooth and the display work, but navigation is unavailable and the unit freezes shortly after the car starts moving.

I have already backed up `User_4.dat`, `User_com.dat` and `User_config.dat`.

Could someone please send me the correct RT6 firmware 2.77 for CAN2010, reference 9691559180, preferably with installation instructions and a checksum?

Thank you.

@Sitikas Your queries responded to in your other post.

@rokita
How did you back up those files? If you didn't use Mirascript then I'm not at all sure you'll have what's needed. When you say "navigation is unavailable" do you mean that they aren't there any more when you switch screens? I suspect what this means is that you need to reinstall the map data (and speedcams if you use them).

I'll send you a link for 2.77 via PM shortly and when you have installed that post back here and we'll see about the map and speedcam data.

Sorry, no installation instructions as such. The 2.77 I'll be sending is an ISO and, as such, is for making a CD. However a usually better way to use the ISO is to extract the files and put them on a USB stick. It's only just over 70MB so you don't need a large capacity stick. You should put the USB stick into the USB socket while the engine is running and it should be recognised and then do its stuff. After it's finished then you should upload your configuration file. Then you should think about the maps (and speedcams).

Sorry, no checksum information.

Hello Paul,

Thank you again for your help. I would like to explain my situation more clearly and ask what you recommend as the next step.

The car is a 2013 Peugeot 508 SW 1.6 HDi. The RT6 was originally running RNEG2.75.C.5.

The original internal 8 GB microSD card developed bad sectors. At first, the RT6 showed the Peugeot logo and then restarted or switched off. I removed the card and used GNU ddrescue on my Mac to recover as much of it as possible. The rescue completed with a small number of unreadable areas.

I then wrote the recovered image onto a new 32 GB microSD card and installed it inside the RT6.

With the new card installed, the RT6 now boots and the following functions work:

- radio;
- Bluetooth phone and Bluetooth audio;
- display and controls;
- temperature display;
- parking sensors.

When the car is stationary, the RT6 can continue working normally. However, approximately 15–20 seconds after I start driving, the screen freezes. The audio or parking sensor sound can also remain stuck. After switching the car off and opening the door, I sometimes hear the music again for one or two seconds before the RT6 shuts down.

The navigation is not completely missing from the menus. Every time I start the car, the RT6 displays the message “Please insert navigation CD”. The navigation screen still opens and shows the vehicle arrow, GPS direction and altitude, but there are no roads or map details. When I try to enter an address, it remains on a loading screen and does not load the address database.

Regarding the configuration backup: I did not use MiraScripts. I mounted both the rescued image and the new microSD card on my computer and manually copied these files from:

user_data/User_profile/

- User_4.dat
- User_com.dat
- User_config.dat

I saved one set from the original rescued image and another set from the currently used microSD card. User_config.dat is identical in both sets, while User_4.dat and User_com.dat changed after the RT6 was used.

I also tried installing the 2.77 firmware you sent. I extracted the ISO contents to a FAT32/MBR USB stick. The RT6 displayed “Checking data on MEDIA...” for several minutes and then reported:

“MEDIA incomplete or damaged”

I repeated the test with a second, older 8 GB USB stick. It was completely erased and formatted as FAT32 with an MBR partition table. I verified all 931 files against the ISO using SHA-256 checksums, and the USB contents were identical to the ISO. The RT6 still gave the same “MEDIA incomplete or damaged” message.

The firmware installation therefore never started and nothing was written to the internal microSD during these attempts.

What would you recommend now?

I suspect that the damaged original card left corrupted system files and map data in the recovered image, but I am not sure whether the freezing while driving is caused by the firmware, the missing map database, or damaged configuration files.

Thank you.
