Are the steering gear of Xantia MK I ( Citroen part number 4000Y8 ) and steering gear of Xantia MK II ( Citroen part number 4000Y9 ) interactable ? Both are for LHD
Thanks

I don't know the answer but as you can see searching for each part number on Autodoc brings up the same result so that suggests they are!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Xantia steering gear interchangeability
Early ones have different (thinner) track rods and very late ones have different hydraulic fittings on the pinion valve.
Many minor variants of pinion valve depending on exact model but generally, for all intents and purposes they're generally interchangeable as long as the differences noted above are observed.

I guess the track rods can be changed to the one that suits my car? Is the number of steering wheel turns from end to end is identical to both 4000Y9 and 4000Y8, I guess it is determined by the steering pinion valve that has a different part number for MK I and NK II. Both 4000Y9 and 4000Y8 have the same track width ?
Thanks Zohar

Re: Xantia steering gear interchangeability
Looking at the Citroen parts description there are two difference I can see (but I do not know what the meaning of the last 4 letters is)
One has "Steering Gear Assbly -- Position 60.DHCK"
The other "Steering Gear Asmby -- Position 60.DHDC"
Whatever that difference is...
