OK, lets start on the lower arms for Daffodil.....start by pulling back the carpet to access the lower arm inner bush clamp bolts...

OH WAIT a MOMENT !

Soggy .....VERY soggy...bu@@er !....so, seat out, carpet folded out of the way and soggy underlay remover. ((Put in the washing machine on fast spin/radiator to dry).

So remove that...OH WAIT.....it has all the peddles etc bolted down ON TOP of it.....bugger that for a game of Mandelson's....out with the Stanley knife tomorrow as rain stopped play.
Oh yes, the cover is a mastic tape, brittle, so it fell apart and I will need to treat and paint the areas moisture has attacked scratches etc so the floor does not rust out later                       :)

Good job you've found that damp before it goes on to cause bigger problems Alasdair.

Time to have all the carpets out, dry them and whilst they are all out it'll be easier to determine where the water is getting in.

The Series 2 AX carpets are different to those in a Series 1 like mine. The underlay is separate and the carpets are not really carpets in the accepted sense - just thin mats! It's why the Series 2 is a bit more refined and quieter than the Series 1...

With the lower arms now done (thanks to slightly less inclement weather) and the Xantia all running great with its new set of selector rods, clutch clip and mount....it is onto getting the little AX ready for its MOT. (looks like petrol is going to be cheaper than diesel for a bit thanks to world events)

Anyway, it;s logical then to fully machine polish the AX (Daffodil) back to her original White rather than a slightly yellow shade of off-white (does Farrow and Ball have a name for this shade of white ?) before assessing/adjusting the rest of its bits before the MoT

Look at the rear wing to see the old discoloured polish over the paint....Polymer "polish" does this over time, white shows it biggly.....I blame Obama and Biden for this !

A clean car passes an MoT, a known Man-Fact

Well, clearly "old English white" is a thing https://paintman.co.uk/shop/rover-group ... YyCiAztUJ3
but not applicable for this situation - so obvious suggestion
Spoiler: show
old French white!!
:rofl2:

Ohh for goodness sake... I covered all the mad Bu 66 ers fairly :) :)

Anyway, with a naming dispute over the Peoples Front of Judea or the Judean People Front or not, if a world leader eats to many satsumas for his own good or if a headdress makes you a little bit "off the rails" in a hot climate yet to be decided as the gulf is not wide enough between the choices...........................I decided I had better move on and will not drone on about it anymore.......so I finished the full machine polish to remove the old "wax" and apply a fresh polymer glaze then topped that with a full "wax", that should last the summer :)

So all done
