Icebergs are ;) This day in 1912 a certain ship was heading for doom. My youngest was born on the day it happened* and when she was little she proclaimed the ship in question was sunk by an ice cube...

Meanwhile, I spotted two Picassos comparing notes today. One of them is grand :)

* She was born in 1995, not actually when the ship in question sank... Just to remove any doubt ;)

With how they're chopping all nature down around here to build warehouses for both goods and people, the rooks may soon have to!

The garage I take my cars to for their MoTs... The workshops - equally tumbledown - are behind this building facing the road. It was once a pub and hence the rather odd name for an automotive establishment...

Taken on deliciously grainy Kentmere 400 film!
The building has been declared unsafe and only one room is now accessible - the garage reception and office...

It's a listed building and part of our town heritage. It was once thatched before the roof was replaced by corrugated iron.

There is an order for the landlord to restore the building and make it safe but progress is slow. We hope it happens before it finally falls down!

It's located right next door to part of the Aston Martin heritage estate.

Steve, the garage proprietor, does not own any of the buildings...

Nice image Jim, given I'd underestimated how far back Harris / Heras fencing goes!
Spoiler: show
AI overview:
Heras Fencing, often referred to as Harris Fencing, was invented in 1952 by Frans Ruigrok, who founded Hekwerk Industrie Eindhoven. The company later rebranded to Heras in 1958. While the term "Harris Fencing" is common, "Heras Fencing" is the official brand name. Heras was a pioneer in standardizing and serializing fence production, and is now a leading provider of temporary and permanent fencing solutions.
I'll have to say it's only the glimpse of modern Range Rover that prevents that image being pretty much any of the last half a dozen decades! :-D

Although

AI overview
wheelie bins, as we know them, were invented in 1968 by Frank Rotherham Mouldings in the UK. However, they weren't initially designed for household waste collection. The bin was designed to transport waste within the factory and a health and safety inspector later realized its potential for reducing back injuries among waste collectors. Their widespread use in household waste collection didn't occur until the early 1980s.

Ahh well, we've always been very ahead of the curve in Paggers and readily embrace all that's very new ;)

That Heras fencing is controversial. We can't se how it will help if the building does fall down and as it is, totally blocking the pavement, it's seriously dangerous for pedestrians along that stretch of busy road...

Never knew both Heras and Wheelie Bins are nothing very new :) Every day's a school day!

Death by falling building Vs road casualty= suspect it's attempt at one potential court case being deflected to another's responsibility!

Or answer to the question "what's the absolute bare minimum that could be done to make it look like the demanded repairs have begun?"

:)
