Wonder if Nissan use special Aluminium different from other manufacturers that requires only their coolant?
Wonder if Nissan discovered the holy grail of anti-corrosive additives in 2005?
Wonder if I took the car into a Nissan workshop whether they would fastidiously order in 18 year old L500 spec coolant for my 18 year old Micra or just shove current stuff in from the communal vat?
Yes I'm taking the risk and have come to the blind faith conclusion that the 2023 OAT I will be putting in, is probably not only equivalent in its quality to L500 but most likely far better.
So yes ..I too will use what it says in the Manual in my judgement of course

On the subject of distilled water a job I have never got round to finishing is to re-route the condensate drain pipework from the gas boiler following a freeze-up last winter. Over the summer it has just been dripping into an open water butt outside. Collects a fair quantity of what must effectively be distilled water. Obviously dripping into an open water butt it soon looses its purity but should I wish to collect some pristine distilled it wouldn't be too difficult to collect it in a 5L container

In reality, boiler condensate isn't much use for anything as it can be quite (surprisingly) acidic and can have 'stuff' ( note the technical term there ) dissolved in it.
I have shoved the matter of boiler condensate its non-potability and its inappropriateness for use as a concentrated coolant dilution agent to the Trivia Investigation thread here.
Good job I refilled the BB Micra with that Organic Acid Technology Anti-Freeze and Coolant stuff yesterday morning. It was cold overnight but nowhere near the -34°C of the spec on the "Tin". Bit of windscreen ice, but the Gas Boiler condensate collecting water butt wasn't even frozen, but then again that stuff has its own special acid tech in it as I found out here
It was frosty here at 5AM but by the time I set off for Junior parkrun at 0745 it was all gone and it would soon be raining...Most of our young runners avoided a shower at the end by not we volunteers!

The Bargain basement Micra on very light van duties, with ten fenceboards lightly loaded into the cargo area. Absolutely the best part of the day weather-wise, bit of sun, plenty of blue sky round lunchtime, not so this afternoon rain yet again and dark skies long before proper lighting up time
