My Dad had one of those, I think it had a Cosworth Engine, wholly inappropriate for his driving style! DVLA has it as a 2,933 cc engine.

NewcastleFalcon wrote: 11 Jul 2015, 19:26 As we get out and about there's a few more classic cars on the road at this time of year. "Classics" are very much in the eye of the beholder, well evidenced in the current edition of I-Spy Classic Cars which has 120 selections including Morris Marina, Austin Allegro, Ford Sierra.

Page 198 post 3 is today's spot of the humble Ford Sierra, albeit in apparent XR4X4 guise.

Don't let this pass by without comment or reminisce a superb discovery at Morrisons, made more so by being caught red-handed and red faced by the owner as I took my close ups! Needless to say he loves it, has larger bikes, but finds it so much fun, and it attracts plenty of attention. I recall Monkey bikes as smaller and a bit more primitive.

Here's the full set of shutter clicks, and we had a very nice conversation.

A mate of mine has one of the much older Monkey bikes and happily rides it. He's.... ummmmm.... of the 'plus' size 8-[ I'll leave it to your imagination as to what he looks like riding it :-D

I have always had mixed feelings about the Monkey bikes, while they were, and still are, novel and different, I always felt that you would be at risk to other road users due to being too low and hard to see from the cab of a big truck or coach etc. As a pit bike or similar use in a closed environment great fun but not for me on the road!! :)

On the M4 between Newbury and Reading (J13 to J12) a lovely early open topped Jaguar E-Type went past. JXJ 999F, with a 4.2 engine.
