  I'd love to take part in that event Eric :)

Still, up here in the North Bucks Badlands we have to take whatever we can in the form of entertainment  And if that's watching rubber ducks floating down a river then so be it

Just be aware next year you'll likely have a garden full of them Steve... I once let a chance self-seeded one grow and found out the hard way just how invasive they can become  Against that, as weeds go, they're really quite pretty and I still keep a few but under very tight control :)

Most of the plants in my garden have appeared by magic and then spread, with a little assistance from me. Mainly poppies. Although I have just bought 30,000 poppy seeds.
Quite happy to have foxgloves and can compete with Jane Percy's "Poison Garden" at Alnwick Castle.

Few pics from Amsterdam...

...from a refreshing inspiring video on how Amsterdam does urban mobility. Worth a 10 minute watch, plenty to learn. and its helpfully provided right here on the FCF. It will become yesterdays metaphorical chip wrappers, but yes I reckon its worth a watch today.

Our field was like that the day before yesterday Jim but they have cut it, waffled it and baled it in two days - never seen anything like it.

The Lime tree on the cricket field can only be one place St Lawrence Cricket Ground Canterbury, and "Afore ye go" famous tagline of a famous scotch whisky.

Nice story here https://www.kentcricket.co.uk/news/kent ... ee-legend/ and should we indulge in a amall extract with a bit of charming prose from Colin Cowdrey (hitting the tree was always 4 runs)
“If I was given a choice as my last act on earth, it would be to walk to the wicket on the lovely St Lawrence Ground in the sunshine, with the pavilion chattering and the small tents buzzing. I would then lean into a half volley just outside off stump, praying that the old timing still lived in the wrists to send it speeding down the slope past cover’s left hand to the old tree for four.”

Just got back in to see the results of my little question this morning!! Nicely put together Neil, sorry I didn't crack it but as it happens the only cricket pitch with a tree I knew was at Woodside in Watford 55 years ago :-D and I don't drink whiskey or whisky so no chance with that!! :-D However as I'm sure everyone knows the answer is correct!!

Now the story which generated the picture:

At the end of April I was looking to replace the dahlias I had ruined, with the late removal of the covering sheet, with something which would spread and fill the bed, and preferably be perennial. After much searching I came up with Gaillardia 'Sun' as an ideal option:
BFTW
BFTW
The plants had come to my notice in an auction at one of the auction houses I use a fair bit, so I placed my bids and won five of them.
I collected and planted them on 2nd May and they grew exceedingly well until they began to produce the flower buds which were completely the wrong shape. I investigated and discovered that I had the Kent ringers so I waited for the flowers to open before photographing them and then asking the auction house for a refund. They looked at the picture I posted first and agreed that they had mis-catalogued them and I was entitled to a full refund including the fees so I have today been there to have the refund put back on my card!!

Meanwhile I get to keep the plants as they are now too big to return so I am on the lookout for the originals I wanted to plant around them!! :-D

Not to mention that another reality is that part of the garden has now become rather overwhelmed with purple and white!! :(
