This is the Connected NAV system.
Main Features: It is a fully integrated Telematics System featuring CarPlay, Android Auto, Real Time Services, Voice Commands, High-Res Display, 3D Navigation, Bluetooth Hands Free & USB. 2 versions of the system are available NAC (Navigation Audio Connectée) and RCC (Radio Couleur Connectée) or Connected Colour Radio, which does not have the Integrated Navigation or Live Services.

What DS5 Head Unit is this?

Post by NotAnInterestingName »

Hello. I'm just about to enter the world of DS5 ownership, all very exciting. I understand there were various different head units at different times, I wondered if someone here would know what unit it was from a blurry photo (attached)? Sorry, it's the best I have at the moment.
Headunit.jpg
I've ordered it but haven't collected it yet, I'm looking at what sat nav update options there are. It's a 2016 DS-brand DS5 Prestige 2.0 HDi Auto Stop/Start. It doesn't have the dial and buttons by the handbrake that I've seen on earlier models, just a little sweetie tub instead.

Many thanks.

It looks like the RT6 (eMyWay) unit, but to confirm, you'll need to post your VIN up (automasked on post sumbmission)

Ok, so not the RT6, you have the digital connected nav with touchscreen - so likely a SMEG unit with mirror link.

If it helps, the buttons below the screen are DRIVE, NAV, MEDIA etc - not numbers 1-6 as I've seen on the earlier Citroen DS5s.

The numbers 1-6 would be for pre-set radio station on the vehicles with RT6 systems. You have touchscreen on yours, so these are selected via the screen.

Woooh! Is that a good thing? It sounds it to me anyway! Is the relevant info under your "Connected NAV" forum?

The DS5 stopped production years ago, so you have one of the last production models and they only had the earlier 7" Touchscreen units fitted. The latest units are completely different and fitted to a lot of the newer PSA vehicles. Watch out with Mirror Link though as it is is being dropped and has been by Samsung and others after later updates. So that Forum will be for the later units, but I'll still move this thread there now as I had moved it into the RT6 forum.

Unfortunately your system doesn't support Android Auto or Apple CarPlay IIRC.

I just found a photo of another RHD one where the lengths of the button labels match the lengths of the blurred blobs on my photo. They seem to vary from LHD to RHD. I'm 90% sure they are (left to right)...

SETUP - WEB - TEL ------ MEDIA - NAV - DRIVE

That's great, glad it's the latest for the DS5 by the sounds of it. Not worried about Android Auto or Carplay really, just looking for a sat nav map update and/or any firmware updates that might be available.

Do Citroen/DS require some sort of subscription to update it? All I can find on the DS website is that it's free for 3 years from new, no mention of what happens beyond that.

Yes I just cherked there are updates available for your vehicle.

Perhaps I should just wait until I get it and try the DS App?

I don't want to do much more tinkering until I actually own it!

Ok, so the issue is:

Citroen used to market the DS5 (along with other vehicles in the DS range) and were badged as Citroen. Then they decided to hive off the DS vehicles to a separate brand (DS Automobiles) and these were DS badged. Basically it is all the same company, but they sell DS vehicles in separate dealerships with separate franchises, but are all part of the PSA group, which is now part of the Stallantis group that also owns:

Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Mopar, Opel, Peugeot, Ram and Vauxhall!

So back to the issue, the later systems I talked about with the later Connected Nav systems have free map updates for life. They also came with 3 years free of Live Traffic services (petrol pump prices and car park spaces, weather and other live data) supplied on the go through the vehicle's on board data connection.

In your case having an older system, there was probably a different offer when new. It may of been that your map updates were free for 3 years then you had the option to purchase further updates as required.

So do do this you may need to create an account under the Citroen navigation site (we all have to do that for our later vehicles too) and register your vehicle details. Once you have done that, you should be able to see what map updates there are and the cost.

Regardless, system updates are still free (that is the system firmware) as these are just system improvement updates. Maps are separate and may be chargeable.

Wonderful, thanks very much for the comprehensive reply. I'm working out that the brand thing is becoming a right pain. Hopefully they'll give up and go back to just calling them all Citroens in the end, especially as the nearest DS dealer is a couple of counties away.

That all sounds cautiously promising. Hopefully having the old version of a new system is better than the new version of an old system. It also has SOS and DS buttons in the overhead thing, so does seem to be pretty modern.

I already tried online chat to DS on their website, they said that they only answer questions from people wanting to buy a new car. Very much give us your money or clear off!

I'll wait to get it, get the app and see what happens. Will add my findings here, hopefully useful for others in the same boat.
