Had to go out into the great outdoors to investigate the racket.
Sounded like hobbits in hob-nailed boots on the roof.
Bloody pigeons - a neighbour keeps some of them.
Often a huge crash as a magpie lands but this was different, has been happening for the past few weeks now.
They seem to be feeding on the moss on the tiles.

Also seems that I need a roofer to re-point the ridge tiles :( Didn't want to know that.
Barge boards looking sorry for themselves too.

Pretty dull, cold and damp on today's mooch, but out popped the sun throwing a strange light on the riverside scene.

The Sun always shines and the wind always blows, mostly in Africa but fear not a large extension cable is planned, consisting of four individual cables totalling 15,000 kM of cable to be manufactured. Estimated global production of such monster cables is currently estimated to be 4,000 kM per year, so looks like a new factory to make it is necessary.

Yes I read about that, I wonder what the resistance would be from one end to the other?

Neil I always get excited when I see that light - it usually comes after rain, when the sun breaks through just before sunset, and I can see the rainbow in your last photo confirming that's what was happening. I had similar conditions this afternoon, but there was a lot more red in the light than usual.

Quality stuff Alec. Pleased my photo struck a chord with you. Photos often dont fully caputure the experience with the naked eye though. The photo of the road was a prelude, just down that hill the vista and the light were so striking that I had to stop and get the camera out. Unexpected and in spite of my years of meandering around the roads and lanes of Northumberland, that was the first time I had travelled down that particular one.

It reminds me of the cave man watching the sunset. "Must be thousands of those down there, one goes down every night."
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

A couple of songs spring to mind...

The morning sun moon when its in your face really shows your age
but that don't bother me none, in my eyes you're everything...
