These are the early ones, cant find a picture of the Mk2 but that was a much nicer car. I could get more TV's in those than any other estate I have ever had, beautiful ride, comfortable seats and very good on fuel. 50+ mpg on the motorway

Is that the nose of a Ford Capri skulking in the corner Peter?

I always appreciate a decent tool shadow board, but it's just not right to have items missing
This one hasn't been used in decades. The largest spanner is a 1½" WW, or 1 5/8" BS. When was the last time you had reason to use a British Standard sized spanner ?
There's a small brass plaque above the smallest spanner. It says : "For Use Only On Mechanical Equipment".... as opposed all the other types of equipment you might use a stonking great spanner on

I used an AF spanner to change the gas bottles on my Mobile Home regularly but the last time was at least 19 years ago before I moved out!!bobins wrote: 27 Aug 2021, 20:33 When was the last time you had reason to use a British Standard sized spanner ?![]()

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
That 1½" WW (or 1 5/8" BS) equates to a 2.410" AF spanner. My toolkit is sadly lacking one of those....... mainly beause it wouldn't fit in it

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Not sure you can do that bobins, you can't describe an AF or whitworth spanner with decimal places!!
Reminds me of the chap who went into his hardware store for a pound of 6" nails and was told they had gone metric. "Ok I'll have half a kilo of 6" nails!!"

OK, the nearest equivalent I can do is 2 13/32" AF, will that do ?

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I can't help wondering if any company has genuinely ever had reason to manufacture and sell a 2 13/32" AF spanner for anything ?

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
According to this chart it would appear to be a non existant size although 2 13/16" was used for Commer TS3 rear hub nuts!!

I was going to say you're getting warm Mick - but Neil blew it!
You can see Orkney in the distance.
