C5 X7 Lower Rear Bush Replace
Hi to all,
I need to replace Lower Rear bush on front suspension arm wishbone on my C5.
Does one of you did it by yourself?
Is it possible to do this without removing the complete wishbone out ??
So just unscrew two screws that hold the Lower Rear bush, remove it and put a new one ??
The car is with H3 +, and the bush is on the picture (not exactly like this one), I have wishbone 3520X6 3521T7.
Thanks

Re: C5 X7 Lower Rear Bush Replace
Hello leocitroen,
The rear bush on earlier cars and I'm told your series was a press fit on the suspension arm which obviously requires removal of the arm also importantly the radial angle at which the bush is pressed on is critical for long life, This angle I guess is that which the arm assumes at normal ride height.
It is not a very difficult job all one needs apart from normal tools is access to a press or a friendly engineering shop.

Re: C5 X7 Lower Rear Bush Replace
i have worn out the second set of these parts the trouble i have is than the mechanic that replaced them before is no longer with us two years ago they were changed and i was without a car for a week.
i was told there is three different types before they fitted the right ones. the problem is i cannot find out the correct ones as the mechanic got them for me and when i ask other mechanics the dont know what i am talking about. my car has the standard coil spring suspension and a aluminum subframe.
the bush has to be pressed on other wise your wasting your time damaging them in the process has anyone had the same problem as me

anyone able to tell me the correct part number for the front axle rear wish bone bush.
looking online no car part dealers refer to which suit my car as they all come up even though there clearly different in the pictures alone.
the bush has been replaced 2 years back sadly mechanic is no longer with us all i know it took 3 different sets before correct ones were fitted.
it it helps my car has aluminum subframe and coil spring suspension
thanks barry

Re: C5 X7 Lower Rear Bush Replace
Ok, so if it's number 8 on the diagram that I've marked in Green, then it's part number: 3523AQ, (Front Triangle-Arm Wishbone Bush). These are £20.69 available direct from Citroen inc. VAT.
However, if it's the one marked by the red arrow, mine too recently went and Citroen do not supply the bush on its own, hence there is no part number. However, you can get the bush cheaply enough from motor factors.
Here is a link to one seller on the bay:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221738423630
I got mine from a motor factor supplier and my mechanics replaced it easily enough.

Re: C5 X7 Lower Rear Bush Replace
The C5 X7 uses the same pivot and hub system whether Hydraulic or metallic sprung. There are different wishbone part numbers whether the steel or ally subframe and from different build dates. but as the bush is not available for this area separately from Citroen, I can't help you - but the wishbone for the left is part 3521S4 or 9663980680 for the right one.
The link I specified does list this part number in their listing - so you should be covered.

Re: C5 X7 Lower Rear Bush Replace
It's all to do with the weight saving which at the rear can be 45% saving over the earlier steel versions. They seemed to chop and change the subframes with no clear logic I can see as to why one would have steel and the other Ally - specifically for the same engine! It's nuts.

Re: C5 X7 Lower Rear Bush Replace
The C6 shares the same suspension setup as the C5 X7, although the AMVAR function is not present in the X7 - and the wishbone itself is the same part number - but again changes depending on whether Aluminium or steel subframes are fitted and the build date. However the same thing applies - as the bushes for much of the wishbone are not sold separately, you'll have the same problem.

Re: C5 X7 Lower Rear Bush Replace
Well still no luck with them rear bush parts am beginning to wonder what's going on did citroen just make up different parts for the crack of it.
Used a number of major online auto factors all conflicting reports and been in to two motor factors one place had three different brands delphi meyle and firstline the computer says all fit yet they are all different. i beleive you cant tell which ones would fit if any until you remove the previous parts or am i wrong?
So am wondering how many different wishbones are suitable for my car as the same old same old thing again a number come of them came up as a fit. Does anyone know is there a serial number on the wishbone itself that i may be able to see as am considering to replace the whole wishbone now it seems you cant trust the information online and no places are willing to order in a number of different parts
My two front tyres are only a month old and there destroyed the wire is coming out of them there wearing on the inside i cant keep replacing tyres like this for the sake of the wishbones.
