It really is looking good for a bit of a polish.
Had forgotten the delights of a single central wiper - aerodynamically and hydrodynamically sound.
Like the number plate. Our BX was G549WAN - always fancied trying to find a Nationality plate KER. [-X

The ACTIVA is in the garage for the winter and on SORN, the little AX is all taxed and insured now and ready for winter duties.

Jings Alasdair that’s looking good! (you won’t be surprised to know that it’s been the subject of many cheeky comments on its number plate in the past😁)

Goes to show what is under there Stewart, but no more polishing until the other work is done
:)

I will be taking the front suspension apart this weekend to sort the little bit of rust on the top LH suspension mount.

Well the AX's misfire seems to of cured itself, maybe the high octane Momentum fuel and some spirited long drives (for an AX) have cleaned it out ?
It has stalled a couple of times when hot recently....so something is still amiss.

nice to see a ZX being taken care of, and everso satisfying result from the cutting.

AX must be rare now, haven't seen one on the road for ages (106 and Saxo becoming un-common sights now too).

I note how of the three cars in the car park, only the AX looks like its been styled by someone with any sort of a 'vision', the others partic the rear end of the white one look like they've been styled by a bunch of people who had no interest in talking to one another for any sort of 'continuity of style'.... maybe they all 'threw in' their ideas and someone adjusted the dimensions to 'make it all fit' ...and don't get me started on lights on that don't fit their allotted spaces, surely they should be square-ish to suit the shape of the pillars.

Do give it a set of wheeltrims tho, a white set from one of the 106 Limited Editions 'd look specially nice :)

I have the correct wheel trims, I have just left them off for the winter not wanting to lose them in any big puddles etc.

Agree of the "styling" thing, clean lines etc.

Another in full agreement...

Car styling is a lost art these days, especially rear ends...

Another car "fixed" by the mighty Jim.

The AX now runs smooth as pie, cleaning the throttle body internals and a tiny tweak to the internal (hair thin) pick up brushes has turned a constant staller/misfire into a super smooth driver.

Well done Jim boy !

AX has now developed a small intermittent misfire again, time to replace the throttle-body I think
