I would be surprised if removing a fuse would kill the warning light. Maybe just as quick to fix the fault. Presumably your car has front seat belt pre-tensioners. If so, the most likely fault would be the connectors usually found under the front seats. (Orange on Citroens) The explosive gadgets are all part of the air bag self check system. Disconnecting and re-connecting them (maybe with a blast of switch cleaner) usually solves the problem. It's a very common fault on 306's and small Fords. For safety reasons, disconnect the battery first.

I had the airbag light come on in my Renault Safrane 2.2TD 1997
the problem was connected to the seat belt sensor. someone I Know sent me to a mechanic with a diagnostic car computer who reset my
management system ,it was reading 9 faults . s\belts A\bags heater
sensors too. sometimes if you disconnect the battery leads for 24
hours the boardcomputer can reset itself, but no garantee

As one of the earlier replies, I had the same problem, the connectors had been pulled apart alittle under the passenger seat, once put back together the light went off fine.
