Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi can anyone help? My air con button is always on and won't switch off and the Resurculate button doesn't work. This happened about 9 months ago and the garage fixed it, and now it's gone again, and i'm not in the same town. Any thoughts. the Air con is working by the way.

There is a great big resistor low down on the front nearside, can't remember if it's to the front in the wheel arch or behind the bumper but I remember it being easey to find without disturbing anything, being resistive when it's working properly it get's hot, the bracket rusted away on mine and left the resistor swinging from the cables.

If you car has antilock brakes there may be special requirements for bleeding though I'm not sure, after fitting the calipers make sure the pistons are pushed as far in as possible, smear copper grease on the bleed nipple threads, find a piece of clear flexible tube that is a snug airtigh fit over the nipple, get a jar with about an inch of fluid...

You can stick with the 16v ignition, injection and ECU, just have to rip out the old wiring loom. It is possible to use the 8v ECU and wiring loom, but you'll need an adaptor for the distributor.
You can use the 1.9GTi gearbox, which has slightly more suitable ratios than the 16v one, but they'll both fit; and the existing 1.9GTi driveshafts stay...

Hi, is it a petrol or a diesel, you might have a air lock in the cooling system, any leak will more than likely cause air locks even if you bleed the system, when the engine is hot the pressure in the cooling system will force coolant through the leak lowering the coolant level, when the engine cools and everything contracts air will be sucked in...

Had a 205D few years ago, fantastic car. Did the same thing when running low, think it has something to do with the operation of the pump and the positioning of the intake.

A/C Cooling coil (Evaporator) removal on 306

Hi All,
I suspect my A/C cooling coil is leaking. Is there another way to gain acesss to the Cooling coil besides dismantling the dash.
My Haynes manual seems to suggest that dasboard removal is the only way to replace the A/C cooling coil.

Is the compressor clutch on when the AC is switched on? There should be a click sound comming from the AC compressor.
If the clutch is not working, very likely that there is no R134 A in the system.The first thing I would do is to get the AC recharged. It my be simply that there is not enough R134A in the system.

I had this problem after replacing a rear brake pipe on a 405 gri. No amount of conventional bleeding would prevent the pedal sinking to the floor. The rear suspension on the 305 Diesel Estate is identical to the Citroen C15 van! (same dampers, trailing arms, bearings etc).
You need special tool to compress the rear srings to change the dampers. This tool is usually found at Citroen dealers, although a few independent specialists have it too.

I've been looking at the diesel 206 as a replacement for our 205. Having a browse through the 206 Haynes manual in Halfords I was surprised to see a change to the familar XUD cambelt tensioning. Heavy Clutch on a 405 TD

My late ('96) 405 TD has a very heavy clutch action, which appears to vary with engine or steering movement (?!!!). For example after engaging reverse, it will suddenly become stiffer at a critical moment! Only a few suggestions. Providing you're not loosing fluid then it might be a slack/slipping drive belt to the pump or an internal pump problem which means it doesn't provide enough pressure at low rpm. At higher rpm, the vehicle is probably moving anyway making the steering easier and masking the low pump pressure. Whats the PAS like if the 806...

Hello Jacksonr.
Check the headlight unit to see if it is loose, if it can be moved without force even a small amount in any direction it will vibrate and shake the bulb fillament to bit's.
As for your other problem, it sound's like there is insufficient oil in the sump, does this happen when you corner to the right, if so this will throw the oil...

Could be one or more of several thing's, most likely is air getting in somewhere, first place to look is the leak off pipes, they harden with age and split, if not there check all fuel pipe connection's and the filter housing, to test for this get someone to prime the Injection pump by pumping the rubber bulb, give it a good few squeezes...

When my '96 405 TD eventually starts (after 2 doses of heat cycle even in summer) there are clouds of grey smoke, which clear after a few seconds. Heater plugs are new, heat and post heat cycles are OK, and it runs fine when hot. Mileage is only 80K.

Its interesting that this problem is worst when the car is cold> this points towards a power steering problem in my book. I would imagine that the PAS ram is sticking slightly ine one position, this is made worst by the fact that the PAS fluid is slightly thicker when its cold.

It may not help much, but I did a sunroof on a Peugeot 104 years ago and it wasn't that bad a job. It wasn't a electric one it was manual. If your headlining is a one piece item, it may be worth removing it for a quick look.

Hi, back again, I have a 405 with an electric sunroof, motor works but nothing moves, has anyone tried replacing the cable, or fixing a sunroof before and could pass on any advise. My main worry is that the glass roof isn't in it's fully closed position, it sits about 1/4 inch down.

Hi Doug. - The clutch pedal should be adjusted so that between the pedal pad, pressed to the floor and it's 'up' position you have a distance of around 140mm. If it's not within 5mm either way, the adjustment should be carried out at the clutch housing. To reduce drag to the minimum make sure the pedal pivot is lubricated and the inner cable not...

Hi Doug.
It may be worth having a look at the bottom ball joints and the track rod ends to see if they are seizing. I would do this by disconecting the track rod ends from the hubs, then see how easily you can turn the front struts by hand, and feel if you can move the track rod joints as well. If one is harder than the other, you might be getting...

Did same with my 306. Peugeot dealers sell the screw on bit separately. About £8 if I remember. The shorter aerial fitted to most recent models looks good and is the same price.

what is actually the problem with the suspension on your car as I happen to have part of the Peugeot workshop manual for this vehicle.The problem I had with the car was the vehicle sitting down on the bump stops due to the fuse controlling the pump which is located under the bonnet behind the primary bulkhead

i have this random problem on my 205 (1991)
ABS is fine, and cleaning the sensors has helped, but every now and then my light won't go out!!!!
I drive down the road about a mile, turn the engine off + on again, and walla it goes out....
Did you get any answers???

The ABS warning lamp is playing up. It only sometimes lights up when I start. Fuses are ok. Does anyone know which relay controls this light? Could it be something else?

2.. there is a slight spray of oil on the ht leads and bulkhead ??
i am pretty sure its not the cylinder head gasket but do suspect the engine oil breather pipes which once cleaned out sort the problem for a few...

I've got to replace the head gasket on my 1.4 pug, so I may aswell replace the cambelt. This is the model that requires special tensioning, but I've heard from a garage that specialises in these engines that 6mm deflection on the longest run of the belt shows its tensioned about right. Is this true???

I have recently re-built the bottom half of this engine and it starts and runs ok. When it is started from cold it fires immediatley and will rev up (if the throttle is pressed on and off) perfectly for about 5-6 seconds. At this point if the throttle is suddenly depressed the engine will hesistate for a second before it actually revs up. This...

Air Bag Warning light on 306's

If this comes on it doesn't always mean that an air bag has failed. I have had two instances of the warning light coming on.
The first time it was the rotary connector behind the steering wheel which had gone open circuit (and was repairable).
The second time concerned one of the orange two pin connectors right underneath one of the front seats...
