Xantia fog lights

To reach the fog lamp bulb holders you have to remove the fog lamp.
Carefully remove the plastic surround thats around the fog lamp then with a screwdriver push in the clip that retains the foglamp and pull the unit forwards.
The clip is located on the fog lamp body, the side thats nearest the bumper grille.

XM Central Locking (again!)SORTED!

The XM in Jimbos question is still causing problems!! For some strange reason, the central locking is causing a draw of current that overnight can almost flatten the battery. Disconnect the central locking and it's fine! Any ideas???!!??
Update: It wasnt the Central Locking causing the problem, it was a faulty boot switch and interior light! PAH!...

the plip remote does not work when ignition is off although the central locking works off the key when the car is opened all locks work then when ignition is turned to pos 2 the remote plip can then operate the central locking sop the the remote only works with the ign on. the only electrical work done was to separate fuse 35 central locking and...

GEARBOX HELP

Hello,
You will find the drain plug literally on the bottom of the box, passenger side. Its got a 21MM hex plug.
About 2/3 inches above the drain is the filler, again its a 21MM hex.
The gearbox capacity is 2 litres I believe.

My 84 CX 20 Pallas is keeping me very warm indeed, as it appears that the flap control spindle has become disengaged from the control motor. It needs a spring clip to stop it from being disengaged. Unfortunately, a suitable spring clip has not been found. Has anybody had this problem and does anyone know where I can get one please?

Hi Oska - I fitted a towbar to my '98 Xantia Estate shortly after I got it. The part numbers for the estate and hatchback are quite different (and different prices as well). I would think you will have difficulty getting the estate bar to fit the hatchback. For starters the estate is .2 of a metre longer than the saloon.

Stepper motor screw problem

You might want to try to get a glue meant to fit in this type of problem. It will give a grip to the screw driver and the screw itself. I bought it sometimes ago at one hardware shop (I forgot where) but neve use before so I'm not sure whether it is effective. Spray some WD40 first on the screw.

My ZX had a slow o/s window some time back, the cure for mine was changing the glass guides, I assumed that because it was the drivers side it had suffered more wear than the n/s, yours being the other side may have a different problem though, look at the glass as it starts to move up or down, does it begin to move evenly or does one side start...

Hi Ian - I have a 2.1 TD SX Xantia which also has a hydraulic clutch. The system is a sealed unit which requires no maintenance. Don't ask what happens when it goes wrong!! - Cheers!

My car owner's handbook says that the clutch is hydraulic, but I cant find any obvious signs of a master cylinder under the bonnet. Does anyone know whether it's fed from the hydropneumatic oil supply?

BX TZD interior lamp delay

From memory (which is poor, as I last did this job in 1992!), you have to remove the glovebox assembly. At the back of it, you will find the timer unit. If you are lucky, the multiblock may have fallen off it, if not, you will need to replace the unit.

Jack up and support the front of the car enough to clear the bell housing, drain the gearbox of oil, release the lower ball joint from the hub carrier, swing the suspension leg outwards while pulling the driveshaft from the diff, you will need to support both the cluth end of the engine and also the gearbox, don't rely on trying to balance...

Overheating Saxo VTR

I am having problems with my VTR getting hotter and hotter as it is driven.
1) The fan works ok
2) There seems to be an airlock somewhere in the system (I can hear the gurgling when it is started up)

ZX blower and air conditioning

The air conditioning and blower fails to work, and there is no power to the blower motor. The Haynes manual has wiring diagrams, but none for the air conditioning and blower. To complicate matters, my ZX TD is LHD and built in Spain. Any ideas ??

Hi M8, don’t know if it’s the same on a BX but on my ZX there is a black globe built into the console beside the rear view mirror. The globe is the receiver for the remote control. Xantia Accu Sphere Diagnosis

Sounds very much like a problem I had, and it was the accumulator. Changing this was fairly simple after looking at the advice from this forum. See Xantia suspension and brakes. I used the jubilee clib method to remove the sphere from the start and had no problems. Happy sphere changing.

I have recently purchased a 93 Xantia all the spheres have been changed except the accumulator, when I apply the brakes the regulator cuts in and out rapidly.
the pump normally cycles about every 20 secounds, is the accumulator due for replacement?

Well at last I have solved my Xantia ABS problem reported since months ago!
The computer at the dealer said it was an electrovalve fault, but they had no idea, surprise, suprise!
So I bit the bullet and bought a reconditioned controller and, hey presto, no further problems. The best deal I found was company called Black Box who can supply the...

I drive a 1998 Xantia 2.1TD SX which is fitted with 205/60x15's. As far as I can see the steel rims are the same size as the 1.9 versions. The only draw back is that you don't get such a wide range of budget tyres in 205 size. But replacement Michelins do give a lovely ride!

Is it possible to fit 205/60/15 tyres to the standard wheels on a Xantia 1.9TD Estate? - They fit this tyre size to the alloy wheeled versions and I have seen steel wheeled 2.1s in france with 205s - Going from 165 standard to 195s on our BX ( with GTI wheels ) completely tranformed the handling and braking ability

A few months back the alarm on my 1.9TD Estate packed in - it went off - then when I rearmed it the hazard lights stayed on - after this the alarm just wont set. I'm assuming there may be some sort of reset, but I cant find the alarm module. If not any ideas?

Well sounds almosst certainly like teh head again. Sometimes there are minute cracks around the valve ports which even with skimming will cause problems.
Best to get these checked before spending money on the head. Soem palces use X-Rays to spot these failings.

Xantia LHM tank

This not an answer, more of an additional question. It's just that I am about to clean out and replace LHM. I noticed that one of the four hoses that clip to the side of the tank does not go connect to anything. Is it just a breather ?

Not exactly a new topic as still applicable to suspension, brakes, p/steering.
Can anyone tell me exactly where the small (Biro sized) black plastic tube fits within the LHM tank?
I found mine at the bottom of the tank (courtesy of a previous owner) whilst cleaning tank out etc. I think it should be fitted to one of the holes within the filter...

ZX Rattling power steering pump?

Tel, if you have replaced both the belt and the pump, then the only thing that can be causing this is the belt roller tensioner. They send to get noisy as they get older. I have replaced this part on my last 2 ZX's.

They offer various performance upgrades for the 19td engine, I had work done on a ZX 19TD by them a few years ago, which took power to about 105hp from 92, and the difference was really noticable.

Hi,
As far as I know racks are the same. I think the different front track was handled by using different length rack end joints.

The oil filter is on the front of the engine, look behind the radiator, and you should see it, slightly towards the drivers side of the car.

Firstly, if the car clicks a lot ie more than once every minute or so then the accumulator sphere is knackered and needs replacement. The LHM should be changed every 60,000 miles or thereabouts. I would always recommend using hydraflush at this point to give the whole system a clean, this should be run in the car for around 1000 miles and...
