Due to excessive server loading caused by some badly behaved 'bots' (automated content collectors), I have changed the anti-ddos settings on the site to be much more aggressive.

This has had the desired effect of reducing the server loading from 100% to about 10% (the other 90% was coming from just 8 IP addresses located in China).

Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

xm idle problem

My 2.0Si non cat when first used the fast idle was working but idle would not settle below 1000 rpm.This was ok for 4 weeks.Last time on starting the fast idle would not come on but after warm up the engine settled down to 1000 rpm . The engine is difficult to start what could have gone wrong. Engine system is Magneto Marrelli.Any Help.

The orange temp warning light comes on after about 5 miles, red light after about 15, steam, breakdown etc. The radiater is cold except slight heat where pipes go in, which seems to suggest a blockage. I have fitted new thermostat, flushed radiater thoroughly (hosepipe 20 minutes both ways).

Sounds familiar. If your car is fitted with a distributor then it may be the vacuum operated advance regulator that is faulty. Renewing that part helped when my car suffered from exactly the same you describe.

1994 tdi. Have to replenish header tank frequently. Was pressure tested last year but no fault found. Now can see moisture at base of radiator. Looks like it's on its way out. Replacement about £100. Any tricks for when I get around to doing it? Can't see how it's fixed in.Haynes only tells you how to drain it.

Sounds like vibration from inside the dashboard to me, which can be a nightmare to fault find. Something inside is loose, probably the blower pipe.
Alternatively, the odd piece of debris has been known to blow into the vent past the filter, could just be that.

My '94 2.0L (8 valve) auto. is suffering a few, possibly temperature related problems. That is pinking, high temp. warning flash, cooling fans running more frequently/and at the higher speed. Temp. guage does not confirm these high temp. indications, and engine does appear to be overheated.

Been there, done that. Did you break the pin out of the centre of the connector? If so a carefully selected small nail can be inserted and the connector put back into the radio.
If it's more serious damage, you can buy a short converter lead at Halfords (from standard co-ax to ZX type) with the right connector on the end but you will have to...

NEED HELP WITH NOISE

About 3 days agoe I fitted a new down pipe after witch I started to hear a strange CREAKING noise coming from the front of the car when driving.
I checked all mounts and nuts to the down pipe and these were all okay. To add to the confussion the noise only occurs when driving forwards.
The car is a 1991 BX 14 TE (K1G(TU)) engine.

Xantia fog lights

To reach the fog lamp bulb holders you have to remove the fog lamp.
Carefully remove the plastic surround thats around the fog lamp then with a screwdriver push in the clip that retains the foglamp and pull the unit forwards.
The clip is located on the fog lamp body, the side thats nearest the bumper grille.

XM Central Locking (again!)SORTED!

The XM in Jimbos question is still causing problems!! For some strange reason, the central locking is causing a draw of current that overnight can almost flatten the battery. Disconnect the central locking and it's fine! Any ideas???!!??
Update: It wasnt the Central Locking causing the problem, it was a faulty boot switch and interior light! PAH!...

the plip remote does not work when ignition is off although the central locking works off the key when the car is opened all locks work then when ignition is turned to pos 2 the remote plip can then operate the central locking sop the the remote only works with the ign on. the only electrical work done was to separate fuse 35 central locking and...

GEARBOX HELP

Hello,
You will find the drain plug literally on the bottom of the box, passenger side. Its got a 21MM hex plug.
About 2/3 inches above the drain is the filler, again its a 21MM hex.
The gearbox capacity is 2 litres I believe.

CX Temperature problem

My 84 CX 20 Pallas is keeping me very warm indeed, as it appears that the flap control spindle has become disengaged from the control motor. It needs a spring clip to stop it from being disengaged. Unfortunately, a suitable spring clip has not been found. Has anybody had this problem and does anyone know where I can get one please?

Hi Oska - I fitted a towbar to my '98 Xantia Estate shortly after I got it. The part numbers for the estate and hatchback are quite different (and different prices as well). I would think you will have difficulty getting the estate bar to fit the hatchback. For starters the estate is .2 of a metre longer than the saloon.

Stepper motor screw problem

You might want to try to get a glue meant to fit in this type of problem. It will give a grip to the screw driver and the screw itself. I bought it sometimes ago at one hardware shop (I forgot where) but neve use before so I'm not sure whether it is effective. Spray some WD40 first on the screw.

zx front window motors

My ZX had a slow o/s window some time back, the cure for mine was changing the glass guides, I assumed that because it was the drivers side it had suffered more wear than the n/s, yours being the other side may have a different problem though, look at the glass as it starts to move up or down, does it begin to move evenly or does one side start...

Hi Andy - When did you last change the LHM? I would suggest putting in some hydraflush and leaving it for a while and then replacing it with fresh hydraulic fluid. - Cheers!

I have a 95 Xantia TD. For the past 8 months or so the ride is often hard for a few days and then goes back to being perfect. All spheres are new except for anti sink. I assume the height correctors are working because it rises to correct height and passes the sit on the boot/bonnet test. I normally do all my own work but I have been so frustrated...

Xantia HDi Clutch

Hi Ian - I have a 2.1 TD SX Xantia which also has a hydraulic clutch. The system is a sealed unit which requires no maintenance. Don't ask what happens when it goes wrong!! - Cheers!

I don't have a workshop manual for the HDi, because Haynes stops at the S plate TD.
My car owner's handbook says that the clutch is hydraulic, but I cant find any obvious signs of a master cylinder under the bonnet. Does anyone know whether it's fed from the hydropneumatic oil supply?

From memory (which is poor, as I last did this job in 1992!), you have to remove the glovebox assembly. At the back of it, you will find the timer unit. If you are lucky, the multiblock may have fallen off it, if not, you will need to replace the unit.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me where to find the interior lamp delay circuit box? on my TZD please. The lamp doesn't work when the doors are opened and it's not the door switches. The lamp does work when manually switched.

Yes, the stepper motor can be cleaned! The first time I had it replaced but it was so damn expensive (around RM 400+) at Citroen Sales & Service. I later found out that it could be bought at only RM 250+ outside!

I have an , apparently intermittent fault, and want to do some diagnosis before I take it to be fixed I suspect failing insulation somewhere. Does any one have or know where to source info on the ABS ECU ie which pins are earth, sensors etc.

I have a ZX TD Aura; recently I noticed a metallic banging noise coming from the o/s rear. This sounds like the same sound you get if you were to drive over a loose metal grate / manhole cover, it normally consists of 2 bangs in close succession.
