Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

TLDR: New AC blower motor died in very hot day. No voltage at motor.

I have issues with my Aircond blower. Last month it starts behaving weird especially in hot afternoon after I leave the car in the sun. Initially, the blower will die after few minutes running. Then I found out if I put the speed not at the max (like 75%)...

Hi all,

Just an update, it happens again last week. What I did to reset it is unplugging the power cable to the motor, and connect it again. As of now, I'm controlling the speed manually and not to let it go to the max. speed. Planning sort that out later by replacing the speed control module.

Now the car is in the workshop for engine overhaul...

DS5 Aircon troubles

2013 DS5 2.0 Hdi, 230k km.
Aircon started to cycle, couple of minutes on, couple of minutes off, etc...
Car went to three workshops (one of them Citroen), none could fix the problem.
Replaced high pressure sensor and brightness sensor.
After last workshop visit the aircon only works 30 seconds after engine start.
Tried bridging low pressure...

I replaced the resistor once before back in October 2022 and I’ve just dropped the fan down from the housing and started the car and the fan is spinning on low speeds. Even when the fans turned off it’s continuously running.

Hi team sorry for delay response my health took a downfall. I still have this heater problem, have done a scan with no codes in a/c yet in the engine wiring housing (bsm) it say heater open circuit. Would that possibly be a broken wire as have tested every fuse in both fuse boxes

A good lubrication would help that motor perform as best it can, they can be fairly stiff if dry .

I'd clean up the commutator with fine wet and dry sandpaper too, all helps.

My other half has a 58 reg Grand C4 Picasso - on the whole it has been very good to us and is a nice car. However we have an issue with the AC only blowing on either maximum or on the second to highest maximum setting (digital displays on the outer edge of the car).

After a repair a few years back when the condenser was replaced and happily working, my air con has failed on the van.

Returned the van to the same repair workshop and they diagnosed a failure in the high pressure line from the dryer to the firewall area, cost £400. I intend to try and repair this myself by firstly finding the point of failure...

2014 5008 refrigerant

Hi!
I have a recently acquired 2014 5008 1.6Hdi. I had come to the conclusion that this had R1234YF refrigerant in it. I now have my doubts. I cannot get a low side coupler to fit, designed for R1234YF, and I understand these ARE a different size to R134a fittings. Has the place I got my info for type of refrigerant lead me astray?

Quite possible. I've replied to your PM.

The 5008 could have been fitted with either type of refrigerant, but as I mentioned, the connectors should only accept the fittings for the correct type when it's being recharged or serviced.

Also, I highly suggest you don't add any 'leak sealant' into the system. These things work by seeking out air and...

So far I have had a friend try to diagnose the problem without much luck so far.

Get the A/C system properly checked for leaks./ It may need re-gassing or you may have a leak. Either way a proper A/C specialist should be able to fully test for leaks and pressure test the system for you.

I have a problem with the aircon on my Citroen Relay 2010 L4H2. The aircon turns on and works ok on fan speeds 1 and two. As soon as I switch to speed 3 or 4 the aircon cuts out and the light on the aircon switch turns off.

I was (sadly) in this section about a year ago... No AC on my 2008 2.0i C5 X7 when I purchased it. Thanks to the help of the forum, I found that a pipe was broken (the classic one) and changed it. Then, the car got an AC regas, and it lasted....few days.

Back on this, thanks to the weather...

You may well have a leak from the evaporator box. When they test for leaks, they should either use a 'sniffer' tool to detect the refrigerant for leaks or a UV light if the system has had some dye added to show leaks.

If not there, try looking at custom parameters and see if you can add it.

Cooling circuit electrovalve open cycle ratio. i believe earlier models used to have two electrovalves in the thermostat housing. mine doesn't have them...

Grand Picasso c4 aircon leak

Hi all I’m hoping you may be able to help. I’ve had my grand Picasso c4 2015 regassed twice in the last 2 years. My local garage can’t find a leak they have put dye in it but can’t find anything. They pressure tested it and it loses 1 bar over 3 hours. Anyone got any ideas

Leaks can be notoriously hard to find and not always in the obvious places.

You may have a leak in or near the evaporator box inside the dash. There are probes with UV lights or 'sniffers' that can be used to better detect any leaks from these areas.

Having said that, it took the main dealer 4 attempts on 4 separate visits after recharging to...

Before Christmas I noticed that my AC had stopped working, upon checking the pressure it was completely empty. I traced the leak to the condenser as upon filling with gas you could hear a hiss from the front of the car.

Replacing the condenser didn’t seem like a huge job so I set about that, unfortunately the aluminium pipes were corroded solid...

Just thought I would update the thread.
It has been 15 months since I made this repair and the A/C is still working well (touch wood).

Would be interesting to have the refrigerant recovered and see if any has been lost, but I'm happy to call it fixed for now :-D :-D

On your passenger compartment fuse box, there is a SHUNT fuse, used when the vehicle will parked up and not used for longer periods - it shuts off some of the electrical system to conserve battery power. Check your manual for the position settings, but is should be shunted to CUSTOMER position.

So my thp175 has developed a fault with the a/c. I have 3 dtc codes
F994: fault in a/c compressor clutch control
F995: fault in a/c compressor variable control circuit
715c : a/c pressure information

I have replaced compressor and condensor, have had the system regassed correctly with a 30 minute vacuum. There is no leak in the system.

My problem is that the compressor engages with air con switch off. This causes fans to operate. Switching on the system lights the indicator in the switch. Unplugging the compressor disengages it. I need a wiring diagram of the system and location of the various relays. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Isn't that what air con does. Remove water from the air and dry it.. Hence its use as a demister.. The water is what has been removed from the air and is deposited from an outlet pipe..

Lately, the passenger side temperature setting doesn't work. it is set to 22.5 and cannot be changed.

The motors are simple stepper motors and these (depending on type of climate control or A/C fitted) will control the Air Distribution and Air Mixing functions. They do not have individual ECU in them, so need no coding to the vehicle.

When you say the airco pump in your post above, are talking about the A/C compressor? Of the clutch is engaging...

I drove my C5 2005 dual climate all last winter without driver side heating, just using a blanket on my lap.

The new C5 in the family was bought with a non-functioning AC system and a strange metallic rattle sound. After removing the Aux belt and spinning the alternator and air con compressor pulleys, it was clear that the sound was from the AC comp.

Thanks, yeah it really is an amazing piece of design; especially the ability to vary the displacement on the fly with an electrical signal.

I've found a new main shaft seal on AliExpress for £3, fairly tempted to buy it and have a go replacing the seal, possibly as an academic exercise only.
Not sure how the shaft could be reconditioned though...

My current car is the first I've owned that has AC... so I'm not very knowledgeable about it!

It recently started making whirring whooshing noises that come and go regularly, usually under engine load rather than idling. If I switch the AC off, the noises go away. My garage thought it was because it was working hard in the heat but it didn't do...

I have a problem with the air con on my Series 1 Xantia Activa. After starting the car and switching on the air con, after a few seconds there is an audible click and the clutch can be seen to engage on the side of the compressor. The air starts to blow cold and then the cooling fan kicks in – and at the same time there is a terrible screeching...

That does sound like an alternator bearing giving up.
Try it again, using lots of lights, heated window, and blower (on high speed) to see whether this sort of load does the same thing.
Under high load, the tension in the alternator drive belt will increase, and put a bigger load on its bearings.

Replacing AC clutch pulley

I've got to change the AC clutch pulley on one of our cars, due to a knackered bearing.
I've got the new pulley & clutch, along with numerous shims. I'm stuck for the running clearance of the clutch when disengaged as I'll need to adjust it by shimming.

Any clues as to what clearances I'm looking for, so the clutch is able to engage & disengage...

I suspect that the cooling fan is running as intended now that the A/C has proper pressure and oil etc within the system, it needs to be running constantly when the A/C is running.
I suspect the reason the fan was cutting in and out before was because of low pressure and that would probably have meant that the compressor was also cutting in/out...
