Fixings for 9222GN window regulator

Unread post by Daibach »

Hello All, I have just bought a replacement driver door window regulator OEM # 9222GN for my 2013 Citroen C4 B7 hatchback. I bought it off an Ebay supplier, but all my research shows this item to be compatible with my car. However, the old item is held in place by 3 bolts which locate into weld nuts on the assembly, whereas the new item has studs fitted where the weld nuts were on the original. Other than that the new item looks the same dimensions & the electrical connection looks the same. Needless to say, the new item came without nuts or washers. Does anybody know what size these studs might be? I'm thinking 5mm metric but I haven't got any to try and I don't want to risk damaging the threads in case I have to return the item. I hope I don't have to do that since the reason for the replacement was the wire snapping, due to it being very rusty, and the window glass suddenly disappearing into the door! Presently I have managed to keep the window up using a couple of plastic wedges, but I haven't driven the car like that, so I don't know if it will stay up. Has anybody got experience of replacing this regulator and is there anything to watch out for. Thanks in anticipation.

I think I follow your problem but could you post pictures of the old and new regulators so we can see exactly what the issue is?

As far as measuring the size of the studs use a micrometer squarely across the thread to guage the stud size and across say 4 turns of the thread to determine the thread size, obviously divide that number by 4!! :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Hi Mick, Thanks for the prompt reply. I have solved the problem and the answer is M6 metric. So I purchased the necessary 3 M6 nyloc nuts & flat washers from our local hardware store and I am pleased to report that the new regulator is fully installed and working, including auto up/down and anti pinch functions. The polystyrene sound insulation inside the door retained it's stickyness and so fitted easily back in place. I believe the issue was caused by the replacement item being an updated version of the regulator. The original did not have weldnuts as I had thought, but in fact had thread cutting bolts into holes in the galvanised steel bracket. Thanks once again for your advice and help.
