C4 Picasso, 5 doors, trunk won't open

Unread post by 508c5 »

Hi,

When pushing the truck's opening button you can here some electrical action occuring, but the trunk won't open

Has someone encountered a similar situation?

What is the solution? Is it necessarily the button's mechanism that needs to be replaced? And if so, can it be replaced without being able to open the trunk?

Thanks

As you can hear the electrics it suggests the trunk is mechanically stuck. See if you can get to the mechanism from the inside and possibly see what is caught and release it. It may be that the latch has come loose in its mounting meaning the electric release doesn't lift it high enough to come clear. :)

In the handbooks it usually says how to open the tailgate from inside by pushing a screwdriver in a hole in the latch.

A thin smear of vaseline or similar on the metal hoop that the latch goes around (often under a plastic flap) can help.
