Lucas epic rotative pump

Hi, the citroen 2.1td of the early '90 got the Lucas epic pump and is very common that pump leaks fuel from the gaskets.
Here on the forum i found the best tutorial of all the web for refitt the pump by Jim Eastment (thks too much)but i don't understand one thing:
-if i want change just the main gasket,when i reassembly the pump, does i must set up the timing injection pump?
if i change just the main gaskets, is it not mandatory to set up the rotor timing?

Hi Fabio and good t o see you here Sorry for the delay in responding; I was away yesterday.

No, when you just replace the gaskets and seals there is no need to set any timing. All you need to do is position the pump on its engine mounting bracket exactly as it was before you removed the pump.

Timing is under full electronic control. It is always a very good idea to check the Needle Lift Sensor (part of one of the injectors - the one with a thin wire connected to it) is working properly. They often fail and upset smooth running of the engine...

Ohohoh ok, now i bought and used pump in bad condition in Lithuania and delivered in Sweden where i have an diesel locomotive mechanic friend for refitt all the pump..... i'm moving all Europe for that damned Lucas.
