Citroën xantia 2.0i 16v Hydraulic return hose leak

Looking for advice on how to repair a leak on the hydraulic return hose on my Xantia 2.0i 16v.
It's the hose from the middle front sphere that's cracked with age.
Looking to do a join repair with suitable hose and an in-line connector.

Any advice appreciated.
It's my daily drive and I need to get it sorted ASAP.

Hose type/ dimensions and connectors type would be great.

It's a low-pressure return pipe although it carries a high volume of LHM.

It can certainly be repaired on a temporary basis to keep you mobile but be aware that after getting on for 20 years now, all those rubber pipes ae beginning to harden, perish and generally fail. You may end up chasing cracks and splits all along it as you try to fix it.

Given it's low pressure/high volume, it can be sleeved or cut and have a new section spliced in. Be cautious as a lot of seemingly suitable material may not be LHM-proof and should be tested beforehand... Copper pipe as a splicing/joining medium will be OK.

Long-term you may wish to look to replacing this whole pipe... A chat with Alasdair (StickyFinger) may be useful as he has a lot of experience in this area...
