Peugeot RT4 - Please Insert Upgrade CD (version 4.52)

Unread post by luismiguelsa »

Hello everyone,

I have a Peugeot with an RT4 system (no USB port) which was working perfectly until a few days ago.
Suddenly, the radio stopped booting and started showing the screen asking to "Please Insert Upgrade CD" (photo attached).
The system was running firmware version 4.52 before this happened.
I tried using a CD with firmware version 8.31, but the CD is quickly ejected after a few seconds, and the screen remains the same — it keeps asking for the upgrade CD without rebooting or changing.

After some research, I found out that updating directly from version 4.xx to 8.31 is not possible. It seems necessary to first update to version 7.02 or 7.10 before upgrading to 8.31.

My questions are:
- Is it still possible to recover my RT4 now that it is stuck on this screen?
- If I get the correct 7.02 or 7.10 CD, will the system accept it and update?
- Or will it need intervention with Diagbox or Lexia?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Honestly it seems to me that your hard drive may have failed. I recently swapped mine for an ssd so I do have a spare which I'd like to keep, but I could send you an image if you decide to swap the hard drive. You'll probably be on v8.31 right after the swap, though you will have to salvage data from your original drive.

As to whether or not it'll boot from an earlier cd: I don't know. Never tried. My RT5 had already been updated to v8.31 when I got it. Seems to be worth a try though. If you do get it to work, I'd probably update it to v8.31 right after that, as it'll ensure compatibility with the hard drive image I (or probably many other people) could get you. It'll save a lot of hassle.

What kind of SSD drive did you put in it, what is the process (partition,...)?

Thanks
