NG4 Head unit bootloop

Hi there.

I have recently acquired a Peugeot 308CC GT with the NG4 WIPCOM 3D head unit. The VIN is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Obviously, my main investigation is this issue with the head unit, as chinese replacements appear not to have full functionality (e.g. time setting, parking sensor display) that I'd like to keep

The headunit boots with the Peugeot logo for approximately 30 seconds before the screen goes blank and this process indefinitely continues, even after the engine has been turned off. You can hear the DBD drive seek when it first shows the Peugeot logo. I have never seen it progress beyond this point

My troubleshooting steps so far have been:

• Remove the HDD and clone onto a CF card as recommended on here. This was successful with 0 damaged sectors, but made no difference
  
  Format the CF card as FAT32, and use a recovery USB to boot the firmware. There was no difference and no prompt to update the firmware ever appeared before the headunit reboots.
  
  Disassemble the DVD drive and remove the CD that was inserted. This once again, made no difference

At this point, other than buying a RCZ or 308CC NG4 and coding it, is there any other cost effective repair solutions I could attempt?
