Peugeot 508 SW 1.6 e-HDi Possible Air Leak thanks to EGR Valve?

Unread post by Shpetan »

Just to give a little bit of context: Decided to clean the EGR Valve. Resulted in exploded Vacuum hose to the EGR, air and vacuum hoses taken out. That was replaced but it was also found that it was leaking exhaust and it was coming from 1 screw missing from the EGR cooler and then 2 screws were loose. All repaired and fixed. Car runs fine and what seemed like a issue before with the turbo is now working more than proper.

Now there is still a issue at hand. When you start the car, cold or warm, after a minute or two You can hear a sound that sounds like a air or maybe even vacuum leak. Videos will be posted.

I decided to monitor this just earlier with Diagbox. The first thing i notice when i revv is that the sound goes away and i get the following values:

Measured Air Flow: 193 mg/impulse
Air Flow Setting: 193 mg/impulse
EGR Valve Position Copy: 23-24%
EGR Valve Position Instructions: 23-24%

After the engine has IDLE'd for those 1-2 minutes the sound comes back on and immediately you notice the following behaviours:

EGR Valve Position Copy: From 23-24% > 0%
EGR Valve Position Instructions: From 23-24% > 0%

Air Flow Measured: From 193 mg/impulse > 366 mg/impulse
Air Flow Setting: STAYS 193 mg/impulse.

What do you guys think could be the issue here? Im out of ideas. Exhaust leak should accordingly to the workshop be fixed but this suggests theres still an issue.
