High fuel consumption 2016 Peugeot 208 1.2 PureTech

Unread post by kemal_222 »

Hello everyone. I bought the car last August and have since mostly averaged around 8l/100km (29mpg) (sometimes even worse, up to 8.5-9l). Admittedly, I mostly do short city drives, but even on longer drives in the city, the most I can hope to get is around 7l/100km (33mpg). I did one longer trip in September (200km each way), which was mainly open roads, and I averaged 5.9l/100km (40mpg). Overall, I think you get the idea. This seems a bit high, right? I've been searching a lot of forums and different sites and people constantly report figures over 40mpg, even with a mix of urban and highway driving, but I can't even get close to that. Basically what I'm asking is whether this is indicative of something being wrong with the engine, or is there another reason for this? Also, I'm not some super fast driver, I drive normally, I don't launch when the light turns green, etc. As I said in the title, the car is a 2016 1.2 PureTech Peugeot 208 with 140k kilometers. I appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks :)
