My wife has only been to the supermarkets recently, I will have to cancel all my concourse entries now :^o , but the condition/age of my vehicle shouldn’t really come into it.

I’m angry but relieved it wasn’t my brand new vehicle :^o

Well I thought I'd better make an effort to keep her looking pretty, the fog light wouldn't sit back in the correct position and I could see through the gap that the inner bracket was broke  That meant having to remove the bumper ...

Damaged bracket after removing Fog Lamp fully to allow locating tab (arrowed) on bumper to be re-inserted squarely onto fog light slot/brackets - it needs to go on square before fixing and had been forced out of the central locating tab, which was why I couldn't realign the fog lamp without removing the bumper!!

That is so annoying Skull

Still, on the plus-side at least the foglight lens escaped unscathed - that was a bit of luck ;)

And that's a great repair :D I think, on that basis you can continue to attend concours events

Cheers Jim I know I shouldn't be surprised nowadays though - when 'people' can leave humans, like yourself, at the side of the road critically injured by their driving - a minor prang in the ALDI car park wont attract much attention [-X

Ah man, this sucks so much, sorry to see this.
Totally relatable - I had someone drive down the whole side of my Mk1 C5 Diesel Estate last month while it was parked in the road by my house - and I've no idea who did it. Noone fessed up, no witnesses and no residents doorbell camera's covering that area.
Damage on every single panel (mostly 'light', but quite badly creased the rear wheel arch and quarter).
All the side trim and the wing mirror (complete) needs replacing, rear quarter and arch pulling, rear quarter and rear door painting - so financially it's written off (and I hardly want to claim on my own insurance to get it sorted)!
It's an old thing with 220k on the clock and been my daily driver for a decade (and worked hard!) but I've looked after it so well (it's never even gone more than 4 weeks without being washed, in all that time!) it was about as immaculate as you could get for a daily driven slogger. So upset, I haven't been able to wash it since, because it will just make the damage more obvious to me

Wurleycorner That sounds awful and much more serious than my incident, mine is also a daily of 10 years ownership and although not as coveted as yours, it’s still a fair looker for a 25 year old Xantia on 168k

I have a cheap dashcam fitted via the 12v socket, which would have caught the culprit in this case but my wife doesn’t like to use it as she forgets to unplug it when it’s safe on the driveway :dunno:

Thanks - Xantia is more than a fair looker, because it's a much better looking car than a mk1 C5 tbh!
(Mk 1 C5 is well proportioned and the estate is clearly not 'an afterthought' like how some manufacturers did it - but I think we must all admit that from some angles the front design is really not 'a looker'...)

Rub down with 80 grit then 180 grit
Skull's - 80/180 rub down

Brush touch-up

800 grit flat back between a couple of coats and I'm happy enough with that...
