Hi all
"I'm having an issue with setting the date and time on my Ng4 navigation system device after disconnecting the battery cable. The settings are applied, but the date and time change again every time I start the car. Does anyone have advice on how to resolve this issue?"

Re: NG4 time and date setting
It's likely that the services module emergency battery is end of life and once you disconnected the main vehicle battery, what little charge that remained has dissipated, so is losing the date and time.
Unfortunately these are no longer provided by Citroen.

Re: NG4 time and date setting
Maybe it's helping to switch off this module in the diagbox.
In the past I replaced my rt4 with a ng4, without this module.
My time/date is still on.
Greeting,
Kees.

Ahaaa , thanks for letting me know.
Can I know either the serial number of this emergency battery or it's picture ?
Greeting.

Re: NG4 time and date setting
The battery is connected to the services module, but as said they have not been available for years.
The other more likely issue is that the BSI software may need updating at the dealership.

Re: NG4 time and date setting
Presumably it would be possible for a competent electronics repairer to replace the battery in the existing module (the kind of thing that is only going to becoming more frequent as modern cars age...).
Has anyone on here attempted that do we know?

Re: NG4 time and date setting
It’s a separate battery external to the module, but may be the internal eeprom not saving the time and date or the BSI - hard to say as there’s so little data available on these units. May even be a weak vehicle battery causing the unit to lose power.

Oh, simpler then!
What kind of battery is it?
I have done a search on here for services module and haven't spotted anything in previous posts - not anything particularly useful via Google.

Re: NG4 time and date setting
Maybe 2 3v batteries in series. It can't be that difficult.

EDIT
I've just looked in my bag of batteries and found that I have a single 3v CR2 battery. I've had it for years (10? 15?) and it's only just exceeded its best before date. It's from a packet that originally had two in and I'm struggling to remember what I bought them for. I think it may have been for the outside pushbutton of the front door bell.
Let me know if you want me to measure it to see if two of these would do the job.
