Hey guys.
I hope someone can help me ... I´ll try to explain everything I´ve done so far but still cannot make the speedometer and the odometer to work.
I bought a Peugeot 206 2004 (1.4 Gasoline Manual transmission with ABS) a few months ago and I thought that the issue was the speed sensor, however I didn´t know that the signal was supposed to come from the ABS. When checking with my diagnostic scanner, it was showing the speed so I bought a new dashboard (it needed to be replaced anyway as the needles were crazy) which works better but still won´t show the speed.
I have checked EVERY SINGLE forum/website I could find to no avail. According to them, it´d be burned fuses(BSM/BSI), burned reverse bulbs, bad earth connection on the dash cable, broken cables or disconnecting the battery, resetting the BSI, etc ... but nothing works.
I removed the BSI from the car to check the connections and fuses to make sure there were no issues/rust and when I put it back, the scanner wouldn´t show the speed anymore. As a test, I installed a speed sensor on the transmission, connected the plug that was hanging next to it but no changes. And as the last resort, I fed a cable between the BSI(Pin 2 - 10 pin black connector) and the ECU(Maroon - G2) which is the existing connection on the 206s that have the speed sensor on the transmission, but still nothing.
Long story short ... the car is too cheap to spend money sending it to a workshop and too expensive to send it to the scrapyard. Also, I´m a DIYer and I´d like to fix it ¨myself¨.
Hopefuly someone can help me.

Re: Speedometer/odometer issue
First thing to bear in mind is that when you fitted the speed sensor in the gearbox there may not be a drive in the gearbox for it as it never left the factory with a road speed sensor in the gearbox.
Any fault codes in ABS system? can you read live data from the wheel speed sensors? do they all read as expected?
If you check live data from the engine ECU can you see road speed anywhere?

Yes, I tested with a test light that the signal from the sensor in the gearbox was reaching the BSM when the wheel was spinning.wheeler wrote: 20 Dec 2024, 10:58 First thing to bear in mind is that when you fitted the speed sensor in the gearbox there may not be a drive in the gearbox for it as it never left the factory with a road speed sensor in the gearbox.

No faults in ABS.
I was able to read the speed on the OBD2 even when the the gearbox sensor was disconnected (reason why I believe the speed is coming form the ABS).
The OBD2 was able to read the speed until the last time ... now it will read 0Km/h.
What I did notice is that I am not getting the ABS light on the dash when I turn the key. It should lit for a few seconds but it only does when I leave the battery disconnected for a while, which I believe, resets the BSI/ECU.
I´m a bit confused at the moment .. that´s why I´d like the dash to get the signal from the gearbox if possible.
