Thinking of renewing as many suspension components as possible and the brakes.

The suspension is a bit tired after all these years should i replace components with stock or spend a bit xtra on some performance parts , are there even perf parts for a diesel. It already has i think 306 discs and calipers up front .
Did it share suspension components with the 306 and were they heavier duty , will 306 suspension components even fit ?.

205 front suspensions are very simple to work on. 205 & 306 front suspensions are different. The 205 has one piece track control arms that come with all the rubber bushes and lower ball joint.(306 has “A pan” lower arms with bolt on ball joints)
Stick to O/E 205 diesel parts, I think the coil springs and shocks are more heavy duty than petrol models try to find Febi Bilstein ones. Also try and find Lemforder TCA’s.
When you remove the shocks make sure the top pivot bearings are in good condition and well greased. Fit new rubber pads while you’re there. The front anti roll bar bushes are simple to replace, just make sure you order the correct diameter.
The rear torsion bar suspension can be a big issue?? They suffer with seized radius arm bearings that can wreck the arms and cross tube. The only answer is a complete reconditioned rear axle. Plenty of companies do this in the UK, I expect there are ones in Spain.

Thanks for reply.
Its a bit sparse on the ground for the diesel 205 in terms of performance parts, if it was a GTi it would be different !
Still i like it.
I was thinking about sticking to stock parts of reputable quality as the best way to go.
Another question here , i have stock rims and they look pretty poor with paint wear, the tyres are 165 / 70/13. If i want to slightly wider rubber but i dont think my current rims would take wider so what could i go to sensibly and would i need a different rim size and from what vehicle would those rims come from .
What would be a good wear resistant coating for the rims , powder coat , spray etc ?.

I`m pretty sure 185/60/14 wheels and tyres found on 306`s and 405`s will fit your car, trouble is the only way to be sure is try it.
Cant comment on powder coat etc? never done it.
