RT4 'dead' after enabling Aux menu option

Unread post by Stubbo79 »

So I very recently got a car with the RT4 head unit (Peugeot 407). I went into the RT4s menu to enable the AUX option, and upon doing so the headunit screen went blank, and it's not come on again since.

I've tried disconnecting the battery for 30 mins and reconnecting to no effect, and also tried pressing dark mode and the eject button for 10 seconds to no effect (is that a thing? ChatGPT seemed to claim it as some sort of reset option).

Anyone got any ideas? Surely just enabling something via a legitimate menu option can't have bricked the unit?

No, the AUX will be for Audio / video (depending on equipment and version) and if video is connected would output onto the screen. So it may have got stuck waiting for some input that it isn't getting. Have you tried actually plugging something into the AUX port (s) first to see if that gets a response?

Apart from that it may have just triggered a meltdown (figuratively speaking) in the unit as these are quite old now.

In case you haven't followed the procedure correctly - pulling the battery connection alone is not how it should be done.....
