2015 partner van drive train issue

Unread post by Didrik84 »

Hi all joined yesterday, this is my first post and I'm in need already. Iv got a 65 plate peugoet partner with the 1.6 dv6eted (i think) engine and it's been a great van so far runs lovely but iv got a few niggles i just can't pinpoint and it's annoying me. When I'm in 1st or 2nd gear and hit around 2/2.5k revs with the engine under load I'm getting like a whiring sound coming from gearbox/driveshaft area it's almost like the sound of a washing machine if that makes sense? And its more prominent when going uphill i can't really hear it in 3rd,4th, or 5th gear, but I guess it's drowned out by the sound of the engine by then. I'm swaying more towards the driveshaft maybe the centre bearing but I'm hoping it's not the gearbox, clutch seems fine no slipping or juddering and no crunching into gears etc. I'm planning on getting under the van over the weekend and having a prod around with the crow bar so any pointers on how to check a driveshaft and anything else I should be checking will be greatly appreciated..

I'm a hobbyist mechanic with a decent tool kit but no means a professional, iv tackled many a job over the years so hopefully have enough knowledge to help others out in return and be a useful member
