how to vent the cooling circuit

Unread post by soundlovers »

Berlingo year of manufacture 2006, NFU petrol 1.6
I changed the thermostat - Mahle, he flushed the cooling circuit with water 3 times
prepared the orig PSA liquid
I pour slowly
open valves on the thermostat and on the heating radiator
as soon as it started to change, the valve closed
I'm setting up
after heating and starting the fan driving
when driving, the temperature fluctuates considerably, 84 - 98 degrees, that's bad,
I think there is air - a bubble, how to get rid of it?
do they lift the side of the car? which one?
put a container on the liquid reservoir?
any prank?

Thank you

When you flushed out the system with water you will have left a lot of it in the engine block. Unless you have found a way to drain the block you should only add undiluted anti freeze of the correct amount and then top up with water. Otherwise if adding ready mixed coolant the final strength will be too weak.

The following is copied from one of my other posts on how I made up a tool to help get the air out of my Citroens:
I do not know what kit you will need for your engine but in my case it has been something to raise the expansion tank level so air can be bled out of the vent points. I have made a tool from a bit of sink waste pipe (1 1/4 inch) about 1 foot long with a seal and cut a hole in a spare expansion tank cap to push it through so it can be fastened to the tank. Then fill the system to the mid level, fit the pipe so its lower end is below the liquid level, tighten its cap/seal and then put in more coolant into the pipe to raise its level (it will not go up in the tank, just the pipe to give some pressure), then open the bleed points to let air out. Once happy, slacken the cap, the coolant in the pipe will run in to the tank, remove the pipe and if needed top up to the mid point.

thank you for your reply

if I use the container as described by you, then the air does not go out from the radiator through the upper thin tube that leads to the expansion container.. this time I managed to do it a little, but only because I put less liquid with a minimum level - a line... if I put more it is problem...:) water flows from both screws without bubbles, I don't know what to do with it

Thank you
